  1. All Minnesota did is roll over for Jim Delaney and Barry Alvarez and the fat Big Ten Network paycheck. The good of college hockey came in at least fourth on the list. MSU-Mankato came in somewhere behind that. PS - Minnesota is playing nice because they don't need you little guys (BSU, UMD, SCSU, MSU-M) making too much noise to the Legislature in St. Paul. Be sure to pick up the crumbs they leave you.
  2. "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious." -- Simone I guess I'll wait for young Mr. Jones to speak for himself, one way or another.
  3. The NCAA kept going back to the settlement agreement and stating that they've done nothing to violate it. That doesn't sound like a group looking to settle out of court.
  4. If the majority of the membership votes for it, yes, the organization can.
  5. Judge Erickson had some deep and pointed questions on how SL had any standing (to bring a suit) relative to the State/NCAA settlement agreement. Maybe Chewey can explain the ND state law that Soderstrom tried to use to claim the pipe ceremony has some sort of legal standing in ND law because it was a "tribal ritual." Even after that, Judge Erickson asked even if the name was given as a gift was the State obligated or forced to use the name. To answer your question directly, the settlement is an extremely big hurdle for anyone going up against it.
  6. Erickson's physical reaction to that was priceless. (I like to watch mannerisms and behaviors to try to read what people are thinking.)
  7. Basically pointed to settlement agreement and pointed out the State agreed to it also.
  8. Good. What was your favorite moment: - when Judge Erickson had to clue in Soderstrom et al that they'd completely missed the possible claim that the NCAA tortiously interfered with an agreement between SL and the State, or, - when Judge Erickson asked Duncan why one tribe was enough if the tribe was Seminole or Chippewa, but not SIoux, or, - when Judge Erickson asked Soderstrom how he can claim the statute of limitations for filing hadn't expired before SL filed. What did I learn? I learned Judge Erickson's favorite phrase is "I'm trying to wrap my head around" some argument or claim.
  9. Standing Rock Tribal Council has made their statement. It's done as they see it.
  10. Well, the US U-18s are in the gold medal game after defeating Canada 2-1 today in the semifinals. Jones with 2 assists. http://stats.iihf.com/Hydra/292/IHM292227_74_3_0.pdf I almost feel sorry for the lad. Soon he's going from that pressure cooker back to the states and the pressure cooker of "what'd you decide?"
  11. That's why I saw him "wrong-handing" some post-game handshake lines ...
  12. I've heard this notion somewhere before .... think-think-think ...
  13. How dare you not be there covering Reed Soderstrom's back.
  14. Target Center has never been a great facility and the ice there was always poor. Then again, poor ice, that would be a great preparation for the teams for the poor ice in some of the NCAA tournament venues selected.
  15. This I agree with. Make each Alerus logo 80% the size it is now and slide each left (as you read them) and center them on the 25 yard lines. You'd end up with one on the NW corner of the field and one on the SE corner of the field. This would actually get the logo on television (MARKETING PEOPLE!) more of the time. And it would leave mid-field open for my avatar to be put there.
  16. I was asking "attendance" not anything more.
  17. So, Chewey, Fetch, DaveK, where you there?
  18. Today's lesson: the difference between important and critical. Important: Critical: That ends today's lesson on the difference between important and critical.
  19. Dakota Dome holds 10,000. I'm thinking this is more of a "market USD in Sioux Falls" action.
  20. Don't you normally pick a neutral site game because the neutral site has a larger capacity than the normal field used by the home team? You'll never see a UND v NDSU neutral site game in Mayville for instance.
  21. Thanks for the update. I guess you'd be the knowledgeable expert about continually delayed construction plans ... (cough-BSA renovation-cough-cough).
  22. The problem in this year's playoffs is simple: The NHL gave a nothing sanction to Shea Weber after bowling Zetterberg's head into the glass. What did that tell the players? - Those concerns about concussions? Nah, forget it. - Those game suspensions from the regular season? Nah, forget them. With those in mind the contact picked up and too far. Now the NHL is scrambling to regain control after screwing up the Weber situation. How can I prove that? Gee, both the PIT @ PHI and NYR @ OTT games had penaties called in the first 30 seconds of play --> message sent early and loudly.
  23. Tell that to the States of Mississippi and South Carolina.
