Dan Cole and Gerbschmidt have talked over each other at times. I don't believe it's Dan Cole. I was listening to an interview on Bumper-to-Bumper one time and Dan Barreiro was interviewing a buddy of his who writes for one of the Chicago fishwrappers. They basically let it slip that that guy (name escapes me) does the Gerbschmidt voice.

Approve? No, you didn't; but, you rationalized it almost as well as Lucic. They aren't making space. They are doing cheap, dirty, dangerous things on the ice and should face consequences. A $5000 fine isn't consequences. Suspended two or three games (or the rest of the series) without pay, that's consequences.

When you have an obvious issue (Rocco's case: height), you'd better have something that more than makes up for it, like a devastating shot or blinding speed or world-class skating skills if you want to move up a level.

Creating space? Seriously? How? By having everyone else in the infirmary with broken junk? How about skating to make space. The "space making" cheap shots will only stop when they are too costly. They can only be too costly one of two ways: eye for an eye, or, major + match penalties plus no-pay-multi-game suspensions.

If I had the orange arm bands in the next game I'd tell both benches that 65 Red gets one, ... one ..., nasty shot on Lucic, no penalty. I'd tell the same thing to Benn in the ANA/DAL series. Take a cheap shot, you're guaranteed to get it in kind.

I stand by my previous post: In retrospect, it would've probably been easier for all involved. What they have now is an epic cluster.

That's interesting. I used to joke that Dean Blais would never recruit the best player from any team; but, he'd recruit the second best player on every team. Why? That guy is used to having to work his tail off just to get noticed. And we know how that guy is going to react to adversity (namely, work harder).
