UND FIGHTING HAWKS vs. UMD Bulldogs - FRIDAY Gameday
The Sicatoka replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
The defender left his feet to hit the puck carrier in the legs and made minimal effort to play the puck. The defender intentionally did this from behind to eliminate a scoring opportunity. If that's not a penalty shot offense, what is? If you claim it's not penalty shot worthy, then it is intent to injure clipping (dove from behind into an opponent's legs). That would probably also garner a one game suspension from the league office for tonight. Here's the bottom line for me: I want the officials to give more penalty shot calls to protect puck carriers and offensive opportunities. Don't like it? Don't get beat down the ice. -

Thank you Todd Anderson. -
Can't sweep unless you win the first one.

Getter - Setter - Shooter Look at WAS now with Oshie - Backstrom - Ovechkin: Oshie has gone into that getter role and WAS is now the best team in the NHL. At UND Oshie was a shooter (and in STL). Caggiula - Schmaltz - Boeser: Schmaltz is the setter, but depending on the night Caggiula and Boeser seem to swap back and forth between who's getting the puck and who's firing the puck. (See Boeser's board work in Western Michigan: pure getter.) I'd like to see well-rounded players, but some guys just are naturals at certain roles.

Omaha has a lot of nasty left in their schedule: SCSU, UND, Denver.

SB Nation was not impressed with Idaho's presentation: http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/2/18/11054228/idaho-football-sun-belt-conference-realignment-aww-man

But NetFlix after work, before going to bed, look so-o-o-o-o much better in a big fancy (crime ridden) urban metro.

Before Taylor arrives Dorn and Ruley are untouchable in NDSU Athletics and NDSU WBB and VB are the unstoppable force in the region (there, I said it). Taylor arrives, womens programs are no longer the focus, NDSU WBB and VB prominence (dominance) falls. And the shine is off Dorn and Ruley. By the time Taylor goes, Ruley is out of NDSU Athletics and Dorn has been suspended (aka: both reassigned, as I originally stated) and Dorn is well on the way out the door at NDSU. Taylor put all the eggs in the football basket and moved along anyone or anything (Ruley, Dorn, WBB and VB) that didn't fit that vision.
-
Amy "resigned" like any coach "resigns" when they've fallen out of favor (cough-quit or-cough), and ends up (reassigned) out of Athletics. Lynn ends up suspended (that's "reassigned" to the extreme) and gone shortly thereafter (yet takes another job in college athletics?). Both were golden pre-Taylor and not in NDSU Athletics after. That's what happened.
-
Maybe; however, when Taylor left town Ruley and Dorn were both either gone or well on their way out of NDSU Athletics as well. Strangely enough, Dorn landed an athletics consulting gig across town shortly after 'retiring'.
-
Ms. Ruley lost the WBB coaching role to a fundraising role outside of Athletics. Ms. Dorn was suspended and then allowed to resign (see UNDBIZ post). I'm not sure how that is retaining power and status.
-
Did those women lose power and status during the Taylor tenure? The word you're looking for is "environment". That's the word OCR uses.
-
If "Fighting" is a problem, we'd still have a problem.
-
Truth is, I can't find Amy or Lynn on here: http://www.gobison.com/staff.aspx?tab=staffdirectory

Givin' them the third prong, eh?

Where Taylor goes, high ranking women in athletics disappear. Happened at NDSU; happened at Iowa. It may be purely coincidental. Is Taylor cause or effect? We don't know. But it is surely coincidental.
-
My apologies. I forgot NDSU is proud of how womens athletics was treated under Taylor's tenure. NDSU 2014 numbers: Campus whole: 57% men Athletics (participants): 65% men Athletics (unduplicated participants): 69% men Athletics scholarships: 61% men

When I first saw a new ND plate my reaction was that someone had seen an actual ND plate and by memory recreated it at home with MS Paint and their printer. "Let's see, kind light blue fading to golden tan to a dark bottom edge. Three numbers, three letters, 'Peace Garden State', toss in a sunset and a baffled looking brown wool cow and ... print." Add some cardboard and lamination .... VIOLA!
-
Given what I know and what's reported at Iowa, the patterns seem rather coincidental. Beyond that, I make no claims to know others' personal beliefs.

Somewhere between Navy and Iowa on Gene Taylor's resume.

UND has 10 mens and 11 womens.
