  1. The guy has everything but a run as a "CEO" at another school, but given where he's been I suspect he's had comparable level of responsibility he'd see at UND.
  2. The last of the group ArchieAlum put out there (the red one) looks like either it was: (a) stolen off the hood of a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, or (b) stolen from DC Comics' "Nightwing" character.
  3. A six point lead at home with 3:30 to play becomes a loss. These guys couldn't close the deal in the "free test drives" room at a whore house.
  4. I think that goes to "Abe Vigoda's" point: 1/3 of the gas retailer's margin goes to the credit card company the minute you swipe. The card company gives you "rewards" so you keep swiping and thus the credit card company can keep "swiping" from the retailers (fees) and from you (interest charges). Me, personally, I'd rather eliminate all "rewards programs" and "frequent flier miles" programs and just be charged an honest price.
  5. That's why I tend to the places that discount for cash and pay the cash.
  6. We have smart and creative people who apparently will be judged on how well they do the uncreative thing and mimic someone else's work rather than be original.
  7. All I have to say is this: http://collegehockeystats.net/1516/boxes/mcc_stc1.j09 I think that's enough said.
  8. There is a UND alum on one of the 16 marketing firms that applied to develop a Fighting Hawks identity for the university. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of fine arts degree. But how about we get away from the standard North Dakota small-town mindset that someone has to design a logo that looks like someone else's logo? I know it's a radical concept, but our state and UND does actually produce some talented, creative people.
  9. Is that what you kids call it these days?
  10. I'm surprised there isn't a big party happening today. It's Dr. Kelley's last day. Ed Schafer starts in the morning. gfhockey, where are you?
  11. Some of the accusations in that article remind me of some of the problems of the Mussman era of UND Football.
  12. The WIAA is merely taking a page out of the NCAA playbook. Source: http://www.undsports.com//ViewArticle.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=3761808 Once you meet that qualification the NCAA claims to have power over who you can talk to and what you can say. Sounds like WIAA to me. My question is this: If they claim "power" over me, don't I have standing to challenge their NCAA internal policies?
  13. Schools, universities, educational environments used to be home to the freest of free speech, bastions of the First Amendment in full force and flex. Today? Speech codes and small, restricted areas on campuses where you dare espouse independent thought.
  14. Red Pepper > ice cream Next question.
  15. Why? The following message is brought to you by the WIAA.
  16. U. G. L. Y. You ain't got no alibi ...
  17. Hey, it seems to be vogue this week to resurrect threads started in 2006, so why not. UND continues to work on the facilities master plan and now some faculty are upset. Source: http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3923969-und-faculty-fight-preserve-historic-buildings-master-plan-development Hey, Dr. I, the reason "all three plans focused on efficient and cost savings rather than preserving historic buildings" is that you and your fellow faculty are bought in hook line and sinker to the "green energy" craze (powered by "global warming"). The "green" movement is all about efficiency, and "clean energy", and lowering "carbon footprints". So why does the plan read that way? Because, Dr. I, that's the environment you and your ilk have created! Here's a news alert for you, Dr. I, and your ilk: Thoughts and ideas that are wonderful in your mind have real world implications, ramifications, outcomes, and consequences. You want a green, "carbon-free" world. Well, old, leaky, inefficient buildings don't fit into that. Retrofitting them is not cost effective*. Thus, the old buildings must go. Alternatively, if you love the old buildings you just may have to accept that operating them may not be all that "green". *Cost effective is another real world concept.
  18. Could? Yes. Do I expect them to add hockey? No.
  19. They don't talk about that in polite company.
  20. That's a negatory, ghost rider. I'm nowhere near gfhockey's level in that kind of league.
  21. Everything is about magnitude and perspective. My perspective is to be good at what you've chosen to do; however, never forget to which magnitude you are working at. Being happy living in ND and being the best (... I don't know ... pick a profession ... ) newscaster is a proud and worthy goal; but it doesn't make you Edward R. Murrow much less Brian Williams. I'm pretty good in the shooting league I'm in and proud of it, but I won't be wearing red, white, and blue for the ol' USA in an Olympics.
  22. WYO ... you're awake. What do you remember about the accident? We have something to tell you. You've been asleep for a while ... it's 2016. ... Nurse! Paddles! CLEAR! < bah-wump >
  23. And they'll disappear the minute the winning and fun stops.
