    Clearly these same folks have no idea about where the North Carolina Tar Heels nickname originated. Or that Illinois kept "Illini" because it was named not for the tribe but for a military unit from Illinois and that unit's nickname was "Illini" based on their home state name of Illiniois and it's origin from the Illini tribe name.* *I'm sure that makes total sense in NCAA-think. < facepalm >
