  1. Given Schlossman stated "there are a few guys who we can be sure are coming" we can make some assumptions: He lists four forwards (Mismash, Kawaguchi, Adams, Jones). There weren't four spots open a forward at season's end. UND ran with 14 F last year (when usual is 15), so maybe there's one spot. Then Boeser. Now Jost. So there's three slots, but four "sure are coming"? That tells me Pogo is more than likely gone, or someone not consistently breaking the game day lineup is leaving. (He also lists three F eligible to come, Keane, Mattson, Sended, so if the departures are more than expected the contingencies are lined up.) At defense there's just one opening (Ausmus), but we know Tucker Poolman is all but gone. He lists Bast and Rieger. That math works. (He also lists Kiersted as eligible to come which tells me Chartrand might be contemplating leaving.) Now it gets interesting: Cam Johnson is coming back*. But we lose a senior (Matty Rinks) so Peter Thome is sure to come in. But, if Matej Tomek decides to leave, what does UND do? And what about the fourth goalie, Anderson? If he leaves Scheel comes. If Anderson stays does it trust its stable to be Cam, Thome, and Anderson? Or, does Adam Scheel come in and they go with four? *I guess he wants another season behind a veteran defense, ala 2015-16.
  2. Cam is NOT going. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/4242894-cam-johnson-returning-und-senior-season
  3. He'll sublet to < UND hockey player here >.
  4. Some key details: So the WIH scholarships will go toward women's golf, softball, and track and field.
  5. So UND cuts women's hockey. The State (DOT) is looking at closing close to a dozen highway maintenance offices in just SE ND. Let me put that another way: They are looking at pulling in the snow plows and shops from all the rural areas. Yes, ND can't afford to plow the rural highways.
  6. Well played. Well played. < tips cap >
  7. UND WIH lost $1.4 million dollars in FY 2015. The State of ND budget is cutting 20% across the board. Those are simple harsh facts, and realities.
  8. Lose the politics. Signed, The Management
  9. From Tom Miller's article: Wasn't there a UND president not that long ago that said something like pick a few things and do them exceptionally well at the highest level you can. (Hint: CE Kupchella)
  10. What are we talking about?
  11. That's why combined they were $1,000,000 in the red last year.
  12. My numbers say the cut about $2.3 million in operating expenses. They only had to cut $1.3 per the State. I suspect (and Faison said as much) that the difference will be reallocated to meet other needs and commitments in the department.
  13. Meet Fritz Pollard Jr. -- UND FB tailback, 1936 Olympics bronze medalist in the 110 hurdles.
  14. When you don't have the money to run from the State, you have no options.
  15. Think about it: He basically just fired how many coaches? If you've never fired anyone, it's just as hard to, as to be. Like I tell people, you haven't been a manager until you've: set budget, made budget, hired, fired. None of those are easy.
  16. And that's $1 million in expense with only $70k in revenue. Dead. Red. Ink.
  17. The State of ND, the Legislature, and Gov. Bergum's budget, mandated UND Athletics cut $1.3 million. You do what the guys who cut the checks for you tell you to do.
  18. The numbers are here. It costs (Op Expenses) just about $1 million for M/W S&D.
  19. Ask the ND Revenue Department in Bismarck. Or get your checkbook out.
  20. What I learned: UND went beyond $1.3 million to reallocate dollars to fully fund some other sports (scholarships) as a part of moving to the Summit. UND is still holding men's golf to the "survival deal".
  21. Yup. I was wrong. (There's my once for 2017. )
