  1. 346 full time. Are you kidding me? For comparison, ...
  2. Grabovski is off the books once the VGK season ends. There's $5M they'll need for Wild Bill.
  3. Just poking around CapFriendly ... Edmonton is paying how much for how long for that defensive group? Ouch. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/oilers
  4. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/goldenknights Brassard and Tatar? I'd be more worried about the length of the Reilly Smith deal.
  5. Yes, but what are UND's costs compared to schools around the country?
  6. You just have to look at what Arizona State has done to understand the potential. http://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/burgum-touts-outside-funding-model-for-universities/article_2a9b1921-17ba-5617-9bea-56e6fda7f3e8.html
  7. Um ... the Ducks are paying Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler until when?
  8. It's the same-thing-only-different as trying to find "bigs" in hoops.
  9. If Bottineau survives, make it NDSU-Bottineau again and tie the forestry* program to NDSU's ag programs. *I still can't believe this state has a forestry program ...
  10. The U-18 game (USA/CAN) is on NHL Network right now. Tychonick getting time on the power play as USA parading to the box early. Haven't heard Hain's name called for USA yet.
  11. That doesn't prevent Williston from becoming "UND-Willston" again.
  12. Scoring goals makes it easier to overcome that bad hop off the dasher or the one that the goalie wants back.
  13. Article VIII, Section 6 ... but I see what you did there by naming those specific three*. Well played. *Lawyer question. You knew that answer before you asked.
  14. Everybody goes with "dethroned". They weren't on the throne this year (other than maybe that porcelain throne ).
  15. Part of the Fleury-Murray flurry was cap space. Something had to give.
  16. Sabres. Dulled. Senators. Impeached. Coyotes. Neutered. Canadiens. Americanized. Canucks. Deported. Red Wings. Clipped. Blackhawks. Down. Rangers. Homed. Oilers. Canned. Islanders. Set adrift. Hurricanes. Downgraded. Flames. Extinguished. Stars. Fallen. Blues. Sung. Panthers. Declawed. Kings. Deposed. Ducks. Peking'd.
  17. Geez Archie, that fails the PC test on so many levels: - smoking? - gun totin'? - blue eyed? <-- clearly ethno-Eurocentric minded
  18. Bergum is crazy like fox. He knows the "no" mindset of this state in the voting booth. Putting a change to the state constitution on the ballot is a big change and, well, people will default to the "no". But, if he can make it that people are instead saying "yes" to an end to continual state-wide budget cuts ... I have family connections to both, but in reality Mayville State (45 miles from both UND and NDSU) and Valley City State (60 miles to NDSU) should be "re-imagined". Frankly, Bottineau should go with those two. Devils Lake should become an internet remote testing center for UND Online. Williston? Same as Devils Lake. I'd re-imagine the system to two Universities (UND, NDSU), two colleges (Minot, Dickinson), and two two-year facilities (Bismarck, Wahpeton). Everything else needs to repurpose.
  19. The word you're looking for is "elitist".
  20. http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/letters/4433335-letter-correcting-clarifying-column-about-und PS - I'd be really sad to see Hesham leave CEM; he's been a great and effective leader. But, I can't begrudge a person looking to advance their career. No, wait, I said the same about Kennedy ...
  21. NCAA DI requires 14 sports (FCS) or 16 sports (FBS). I'm going back to a two-decades long harp (axe?, mantra?) of mine: Fix that "minimum number of sports" requirement of the NCAA. Schools should be able to pick a sport at a level and play it. Just because you want to play DI basketball shouldn't mean you have to have 10 (12? 14?) guaranteed money losing sports on campus. Let schools support and play what their demographics are interested in and are willing to support. Before you say "Title IX", that's Federal law (and Federal law and the NCAA ... not the same). Schools will still have to pick and choose and design their athletics departments to comply to Title IX; however, and believe it or not, that might give the schools more flexibility than they have today.
  22. Which wouldn't be all bad if the schools could be more self-sufficient and less to the whims of state budgets or politics du jour.
