Siouxman Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Nor do I. But if I were a Gopher fan, I wouldn't go around making public predictions about such things. Besides, EJ is out looking for a place to go skinny dipping. Quote

buckysieve Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Nor do I. But if I were a Gopher fan, I wouldn't go around making public predictions about such things. It wasn't meant to sound cocky. Trust me, I am not very confident in this team right now. But I will still be shocked if they drop one this weekend. Quote
jojordan23 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 This time of year, I don't think any Gopher fan should be talking about games Minnesota never loses. Pat, THANK YOU!! This is the best desktop background I have ever seen!!! LOL! Quote
PCM Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 It wasn't meant to sound cocky. Trust me, I am not very confident in this team right now. But I will still be shocked if they drop one this weekend. In that case, I apologize. But this has been such a strange year that nothing would surprise me. I never thought I'd see the Sioux be swept by UAA, MTU and a mediocre Wisconsin team, finish in third place and be undefeated against the two teams that finished above them. I don't think anyone expected the Sioux to sweep the Gophers in their own barn, but it happened. I think the Gophers will win their series against UAA. Would I be shocked if they dropped a game? Not at all. Quote
Stack Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 10 UAA @ 1 UMTC 9 UMD @ 2 SCSU 8 MSUM @ 3 UND 7 UW @ 4 DU 6 MTU @ 5 CC Minnesota in 2 St. Cloud in 2 North Dakota in 2 Denver in 3 CC in 3 Quote
NorthDakotaHockey Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 No offense, but these predictions are getting pretty tired. How about something real challenging . . . . League assignments of its refereeing corps. UM-UAA --- Derek Shepherd SCSU-UMD --- Marko Hunt UND-MSU-M --- Todd Anderson DEN-WI --- Scott Zelkin CC-MTU --- Randy Schmidt. Don Adam, Jon Campion, and the rest ride the pine. Quote

Don Adam, Jon Campion, and the rest ride the pine. Wow. DU/WI would end up being a really good series. UND would almost continuously be down a man, Hunt will continuously miss obvious penalties, Shepherd will call a good game one night a terrible one the next, and Schmidt will just blow 2-3 calls per game. The good news? No players will be seriously injured thanks to Don Adam riding the pine. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Don Adam, Jon Campion, and the rest ride the pine. I'd pick Campion over Adams in 3 games, ... but who'd be their ref? ;) Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Doesn't a new ref come in for the third game of a series? I believe that's the case only by request of the teams. (The league would probably rather be cheap and not have to fly in a crew for one game.) Quote
siouxnami Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'd pick Campion over Adams in 3 games, ... but who'd be their ref? ;) Paukovich? Quote

Pretty good but Zelkin hasn't reffed a game all year. I read on the USCHO boards that he is working in Chicago so Don Adam might get the call yet. Quote
Stromer Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 My picks UM-UAA --- Derek Shepherd SCSU-UMD --- Bill Mason UND-MSU-M --- Don Adam DEN-WI --- Marko Hunt CC-MTU --- Todd Anderson However I would really like it if we got Friesema. He's only reffed 8 WCHA games this year so its a long shot, but I enjoyed him during the AA series at the Ralph. Quote
Siouxmama Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Without reading the whole thread...and because I just don't know: How is it decided who goes to the Final 5? The five teams that win this weekends series? The top five teams in the WCHA, after this weekend? I thought I knew, but then heard something else. Quote

The winners of the 5 series this weekend will be seeded and play at the Final 5 with the 2 lowest seeded teams playing on Thursday. Quote

The five teams that win this weekends series? The top five teams in the WCHA, after this weekend? I thought I knew, but then heard something else. The teams are ranked 1-10 right now. 1 plays 10 2 plays 9 3 plays 8 4 plays 7 5 plays 6 The 5 winners go to the Final 5. The two lowest seeds winners of 4 and 7 and 5 and 6 play the Thursday play-in game. The highest seed plays the winner of the play-in games. If I have it pegged right with help from PCM, the only way that the Sioux will not play the 2:05 pm semifinal is if UM and SCSU lose their series' this weekend. Quote
UNDLeafsGuy Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 You can add it all up but the only thing that matters is 7 > 5 Bucky also forgot to add to his signature ........ Most NON Championship banners hanging in a college hockey area Quote
Old Time Hockey Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Bucky also forgot to add to his signature ........ Most NON Championship banners hanging in a college hockey area I can feel the Goofer fan's frustration. They were deprived of hanging the DQ Cup banner this year! The Boy, The Sieve, The Frazee! The Mullet, The Neckbrace, The DON! Quote

HockeyMom Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Youre dreaming if you think AA can skate with UM on the road, with that said I see UM losing to their next opponent. I WASN'T DREAMING, BABY! AA JUST BEAT THE GOPHERS IN OT!! CAN YOU FEEL THAT MISTER!!!!!!! *humps the air Ace Ventura style* Quote

HockeyMom Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Good call, the gophs really had their hands full in that first game. You can talk if tommorows game is within 5. Nope. I'll talk if it goes to OT. I really don't see the Gophers losing today, but last nights game proved that any team can skate with any team in the WCHA. We have a great league. Quote
