yepdude
Not that they put NCAA in the middle but the sides have the flame UND logo. This just pisses me off. Good luck trying to remove the 10,000 other logos.

Cratter
"We could only have the Sioux logo be a certain size, and we thought it would have been too small," said Charlie Muus, operations director of the arena. "The fans are used to a big logo, and we thought it would have been too small to use if we follow the standards." Grand Forks Herald
PCM
Not a big deal. Agreed. This is something that happens at all rinks hosting NCAA playoff events.

Good luck trying to remove the 10,000 other logos. The NCAA didn't force them to do it. They just had a regulation on the size the logo could be, and they decided the Sioux logo wouldn't look as nice in a small size as the UND with the flame on it would. They were thinking about how it would look televised and about good advertising. I love the Sioux logo, but I like it BIG.
Fetch
If it was somewhat of a compromise to get them (NCAA) off our backs ...OK But if they persue the logo Ban then we should have stuck it in their Face I could care less if we can't host further events - Keep the Logo -& I don't want to debate it any more - what else can be said ...RIP Ralph Engelstad - Go FIGHTING SIOUX !!! NorthDakotaHockey
It will be a refreshing change to see all of the advertisements removed from the boards as well. The NCAA. No commercialism allowed. Funny. The arrogance and the hypocricy from that organization never ceases to amaze me. It will not be long for this world, at least at the D-1A football level. THETRIOUXPER
Does this mean they have to implode the arena now? I don't think that will be necessary, but they may have to make some doorways bigger to get phil's(and certain goopher fan's) heads through them. And speaking of hypocrisy, it'll be interesting to see how much the Pontiac name and logo are mentioned and on display this weekend. We need to forget about the center-ice logo. The biggest slap in the face UND can give the NCAA is to have the hockey players celebrating their trip to the Frozen Four with the Fighting Sioux name and logo proudly displayed on their chests. Let's not forget that if the NCAA had its way, UND would have been forced to wear generic uniforms at the West Regionals.

Let's win one more national championship with the Sioux name and logo on our jerseys on the ice. The future championships we can wear them in the stands instead, if necessary. MafiaMan
In Michigan in 1998, the blue and maize "M" logo was displayed at center ice. This logo was in fact removed prior to the 2002 regional hosted at Yost in order to promote a more "neutral" event. In 2005, Minnesota hosted the western regional and the ice inside of the blue lines contained a "Western Regional Hosted by 'M'" logo. The logo being removed from center ice in Grand Forks is keeping with the practice started after 1998, nothing more, nothing less.
yepdude
I was thinking more along the lines that I don't like the flame logo. I understand that NCAA needs to be there.
ScottM
Too bad about the lack of commercialism. I was willing to pay for a board to read "The NC$$ is run by whiney-ass idiots". Maybe next season.

mikeypat15
One of the players could stick it to the NCAA if they pulled what Chorney did after scoring his goal against the Gophers in December. If any remember he turned to the crowd and grabbed his jersey. They had a clip of it in the opening montage at the start of the FF championship game. That would be a nice celebration to see. I hate the jersey pop with a passion, but if Chorney is going to pull a stunt like that again, let's hope he does it when the scoreboard shows the Sioux well ahead and not trailing (as he did last time). Shawn-O
I hope he doesn't ever do it again. Please don't stoop to phil's level. For the record, it was Danny Irmen. Interesting, the Chorney jersey pop has surfaced on two or three FSN montages that I've seen, while Irmen's has been buried in the archives. Not a big deal at all, just an observation. Yes, but phil did the infamous hand-to-the-ear-move in wisco this year.
stafford_rules
no logo? talk about hostile and abusive........ and i think the ncaa's "apology" should have been shared by Red Baron. they sponsored the whole fricking tourney!!!!!!!! stafford_rules
and you know what really pisses me off??? That we fought it to have the logos for the west regionals and then we go and take out probably the most important sioux head for the whole freaking weekend! screw the "neutral playing environment" rule. one would think it was an advantage. Sioux-cia
I don't have a problem with the logo off the ice. As stated somewhere, this is about hockey at it's finest, not our logo. There's a time and place to fight for our rights to wear and display the Fighting Sioux name and logo. I don't believe the regionals nor the Frozen Four are the right venues for that fight. See ya in court NC$$.
