#9 Cole Reschny, C (Calgary Flames): Reschny wasn’t in the lineup yesterday but was one of Canada’s best players today. He was buzzing all over the place, hitting guys at both ends while also creating some quality chances on the attack. Reschny had an assist on the first Canadian goal and then battled the heck out of a Finnish defender to set up the third goal. His ability to be engaged everywhere as a true play driver is one of the biggest reasons why he’ll challenge for the No. 1 C spot this winter. Notably, UND will have a stout blueline next year – that might hurt Emery’s ice time, but it might also allow him to focus more on being an absolute beast defensively.

I could find a reason to disagree with this statement; EJ will probably/should get top two if not top four minutes. His play last year improved vastly and will only compliment the incoming crew and returnees.

EJ will probably get 40 minutes a game during the Clarkson series January 1-2.

Should add Keaton looked pretty solid as well. Looked very confident with the puck and was making plays . He had a little rust at moments but was great to see him playing with a little swagger

Should just be missing Keaton and C4 for the WJC from our d-corps.
But I could also see Emery getting a look for the Spengler roster during that time as well.
Good opportunities for mega minutes during the Clarkson series for Boser, Dumanski, Laurila, Lindberg, and MacKenzie.

Reschny, Carels, Verhoeff for Team Canada and Simpson, Sanderson for Team USA for WJC camps.

Is Sanderson another diamond in the rough? Seems to be dominating the competition.

His interviews are always intense. He’s got that presence. Reminds me of Teows, in that way. All hockey, and no bull$%!#.

Last year, one of the qualifications for the US College Selects roster at the Spengler Cup was no first round draft picks. So Emery would not be considered unless they change that for this year.
