I certainly wish Klee, Littler and Strathman would have stayed, but I like the philosophy of not having a distinguishing line between who will be sitting most nights and who will be in the lineup.  With the usual number of injuries, you are going to need those guys to contribute, so the more competition the better.

As long as the coaches are distributing playing time fairly based on production and work ethic, I think it weeds out the guys that don’t want to work for their playing time.  Have no problem with those guys seeking out other opportunities to further their careers, and wish them well except against us.  As usual, next man up, and with this philosophy, next man up shouldn’t be much of a drop off.

Cournoyer to Wisconsin

Now Wisconsin goalies are on the clock to the portal

Some folks think there was stuff going on behind the scenes between the timing of the announcement and the fact that he wasn't at the team's awards banquet. Also, I can't imagine he would be guaranteed the starting spot over Hauser and that he won't have to split time. Odd decision unless you consider academics, wanting to play in the Big 10, or both.

Regardless, Cornell did pick up Mathis Rousseau from Maine, so that seems to fill the need.

Wisconsin is much more likely to be a consistent National Championship contender than Cornell, plus you're able to get some NIL money at Wisconsin that you wouldn't be able to at Cornell. Makes sense to me

And also, no shortage of hotties at Mad Town.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned Big 10 although the money could be dubious given that it's Wisconsin. The previous Cornell transfer to a Big 10 team (Robertson) seemed to do it because of more resources for athletics (including scholarships, which the Ivys don't offer due to policy) and the ability to play in a better conference, which seems to have worked out for him so far except for the lack of a national championship. Cournoyer's transfer is evidently a different situation, and unlike Michigan, Wisconsin hasn't exactly been much of a contender the past 10-15 years. Even Cornell has many more NCAA appearances over that time

The Ithaca campus is pretty cool, but it’s hard to beat UW Madison.

If NDSU was on St. Charles in the Garden District, it would be a cool campus too.

Madison has the capital, cities with a flagship campus and state capital are usually good places to live. Lincoln, Austin, Columbus, etc.

Well, I hear it has an Olive Garden now.  And it probably has a Lowe’s with a garden section.

The adjacent capital/downtown located on an isthmus between two large lakes adds as well.  All major campuses have their attractive assets, but UW Mad is a nice place to be a 20-something student.
