Could they make it with a 1-1 finish? I predict 1 more win.

They shouldn't.....not at 7-5

@UND-FB-FAN help me feel better about Jerry & the OC.

They’re in a rough patch, but next week (Murray State) should allow them to build key confidence for a crucial home matchup versus South Dakota State on 11/22.

If UND defense continues what they’re doing, the UND offense only has to make a few more plays per game to be in position to consistently win games.

They’re close, but certainly not there yet.

They would have a very solid resume even at 7-5 with wins versus SIU and YSU, but ultimately they should and will go 8-4 making this is a non-issue.

7-5 in the current FCS landscape screams...."Meh"

Agreed. Huge difference between 8-4 & 7-5. They need to beat SDSU.

Where frustration has fully kicked in for me, is we’re back to this embarrassing spin that took place under Bubba as to why their record isn’t as bad as it looks. Yes, I know they are 6-4, but it’s not that bad.

Good news. Season is far from over. Playoff mode. Win your last two and a few playoff games and we’re all feeling good again going into the offseason.

Our offensive line is young which bodes well for use to continue to develop these guys into stronger players. Our RB is one of the most electric players in the country but he will be most likely playing in the Big 10 or SEC next year, but we seem to have the next  in line Linguma 'sorry if I spelled it worng" and other rb recruits look promising as well. Our TE are fantastic and will be a threat to watch. WR had alot of depth but no #1 guy hopefully someone will develop. JERRY and the qb room its only Jerry's first year as qb1 if he doesn't develop more over the rest of the year and spring ball, you then need to look at other qbs cause we have what 4 or 5 now, one of them has too be the guy. As for the OC his office should be empty around noon today. Yes we scored alot of points but he can call a game to save his life win we are close. I dont think we are far off.

This...^^^ 100%

Lots of lackeys here still carrying the water for this program.....like they did for 10 years under Bubba.

I never noticed it with the NFL but it seems as though the college season can seem very long. Could it be hard staying focused all yeat?

These are 18-21 year old kids playing we have to remember that. 97 percent are not being paid to play. The pros are payed so its there livelihood they dont focus they get cut, these kids don't focus who cares they still get a amazing education paid for by there scholarship. Look at this way Bill Murray state hasn't won a game but the student athletes are still getting there education no matter what.

You do realize there are now 17 regular season games on the NFL schedule?

True and false. Going all the way back to Bill Walsh, successful offensive football is never about banging your head against a wall. You never want to minimize your offense to just making one player overcome another. When the defense is sold out to stop one thing, you need to go to something different. There were some opportunities for different play calls yesterday, as such, but I agree with you that the players ultimately need to make the plays and they didn’t make enough at the end of the day. What makes this sting is they didn’t need to make 4 or 5 more plays, just 1 more play wouldve been enough and UND would be in the driver seat for the conference championship. Instead, we’re fighting for a playoff spot and ag college and their cocky a**hole fans got to celebrate on our home turf

if there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s that this program and current team is very close…one play away from beating the best team in FCS football

keep grinding and this team can make a deep, deep playoff run

Ya, I agree. After being really critical on the play calls in the most crucial moments that didn’t succeed. Isaac apparently saw things that should work in those pass plays from the 2 and the shotgun with 1 yard to go gave some wiggle room to make the play and we did execute that before that with 1 yard to go.

just needed to execute those plays.

When we develop a reliable, dynamic passing offense this team will be great

I think Schmidt is aiming a little higher than (Bill) Murray State.

And while CFB isn't the NFL, it ain't high school either.

We need a change in offensive coordinator.

Do you think we hold NDSU to 15 points under last year's regime? We would have given up three to four TDs at minimum. It would have been pitch and catch down the middle of the field all game long, with a few long QB runs thrown in for good measure. This is NOT Bubba Ball.

I do think Schmidt made a mistake retaining Fruechte and I think a change is needed there. But I still have faith in Schmidt and what he is trying to build here.

Danny Freund back at UND as an OC would be amazing

I find it interesting that people are getting nostalgic for Freund now.  He got raked over the coals for myriad head-scratching offensive calls, trick plays, etc. by many SS posters.  Remember the Fargodome play (can't remember which year) when the camera showed him upstairs nervous as hell wondering if his play was going to work at a crucial moment and we all agreed we should have called time-out??

Less than a year ago. Eric Schmidt

Schmidt is currently only as good as his OC and Special Teams Coaches are during game time and that is not good enough.  HIs hires - his responsibility.

If they OC desk isn't empty by Noon today, I think we have a serious problem with the program. The defense wasn't perfect but they did enough where we should have won by 10 points. I get he didn't miss the kick which is a whole other thing. But he did call for 3 passes at the 3, with first and goal. Had Jerry in the gun at 4 and inches and then decided to have Jerry throw deep when a short out route would have been fine. Again with not running it to the edges wtf is with all the up the gut runs you have one of the best rb in FCS and you run him up the gut hes shifty and fast get him on the edges to be 1v1 the lbs and cbs. This is the last straw you have to make changes he is detrimental to our team at this point, I heard Bemidji might be looking for a new OC would be a better fit at then this level of football.

Guessing the OC’s desk will not be open by noon today. Possibly though come season’s end.
