Sioux_Hab-it
Not a Sioux recruit, but right now our announcers are hoping we dont play UNO for the next few years... How would you pronounce "Grzeszczhak?" I can't wait to hear Woog attempt that one. It might give him permanent lock-jaw.
choyt3
While at the Meet and Greet last night, my wife was talking with Oshie about Forney coming in next year. TJ said that Forney broke his leg a couple of days ago and things are in the air about him coming in next year. Didn't have time to try and get more information on it. Watkins, Oshie's table partner, was just as suprised as we were. Anyone have any more info on this? It was in this thread last week.
Mad Man
I'd assume you'd be correct also as Chay Genoway, Jake Marto, Michael Forney, and Chris VandeVelde signed letters in the early period in November. http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/mhocke...RELEASE_ID=4315 The only surprise that I'd expect (and is that really a surprise) would maybe be a goaltender. The Sioux only lost 2 seniors and will most likely be getting back Bina. So far that is only a net loss of one player. With seven signed players coming in that's 6 extra guys How many of these guys will be waiting a year to join the team and who & how many early defections will the Sioux have. Trupp is an 07 recruit, and LaPoint might go to the USHL for a year. There has also been speculation that Marto may spend another year in the USHL. I suppose it all depends on who leaves early. I'd love to see LaPoint go to a USHL team, but don't be surprised if he actually ends up going to the Wichita Falls NAHL team that has his rights (and which he signed a contract with). crosby_87
I have also heard that the only reason he signed with Wichita Falls was to get them to stop calling him. Chuck Schwartz would probably know more about this though.

Here are my thoughts on LaPoint next season. Two scenario's...if Smaby leaves, and if Smaby stays. Remember, these are just MY thoughts and do not reflect the thoughts of him or his family. If Smaby stays: 2% Whichita Falls 98% USHL If Smaby Leaves: 60% UND 39% USHL 1% Whichita Falls He should be a first round USHL draft pick if not top 3. I do not see any way he ends up in Wichita barring something horrible happening.
Chuck Schwartz
The NHL announced thier list of invitee's for the Combine in Toronto May 30th-June 3. If you dont know anything about it the NHL invites the top 115 players for the draft to Toronoto to test on multiple things athleticly as well as each player will interview with almost every team there. I had the privledge to go to this event about 7-8 years ago when I was a youth hockey player playing in a AAA summer tournament who just happened to stay at the same hotel as this event goes on. skateshattrick
Does anyone have a read on the development of Chris Vandevelde over the past year? What will be the expectations for him as a Sioux player? Dave Hakstol talked about him a lot at Sioux Boosters in Fargo on Tuesday and is very, very pleased with his development. He said that over the past 1/3 of the season, he is clearly one of the top players in the USHL. He said that his overall game makes him one of the elite players in the league and they are really looking forward to having him next year. He did say that Marto will also be a good player in this league, but the coaching staff has not decided yet if he will be here this fall or the next fall. Hopefully the Sioux can get a Duncan-like year out of Vandevelde next season. It sounds like he has progressed nicely in the past year. With early departures, I wonder if they would bring in LaPoint or Marto first if they bring one in for this fall. Marto has already played a season in the USHL, but I wonder which player they feel is further along in their development.

Vegas
Wade is another great player UND should recruit very hard. brianvf
i bolded the players I think will be palying at UND...just my own feeling If we even got 3 of those 5 players, I would be very excited. From what I have heard about Blood, he is a very good dman, with lots of potential. Would be great to get Mario, sounds like he plays with grit and an edge, much like Prpich. I like the smaller, quicker forwards like Tessier and Murray (and they are more prone to staying a few more years). From what I understand of Tessier and Toews, if we got one, we would be the definite frontrunner in getting the other (they seem to be best friends). Walsh Hall
If David Toews and Tessier suit up for the SIoux I can't wait to hear the crap from the Gopher fans. They were pretty tough on Bochenski based on his incident, but this one would be interesting.
