They’re different. Carels is more polished. Verhoeff is huge, more of a project.

As much as we would love them to get Dupont or Rudolph why would they want to join a back end that now will include 3 #1 picks.  There is only so much ice time to go around.  And for example I would not want Dupont to sign and then Verhoff questions coming back as this is his year to make major strides so he can be ready to play in the NHL the following season.  Good problems to have but could cause some challenges

Look at the back ends of the blue bloods for next year. It’s pretty jamb packed for those schools in the West at least that seem to be in the game for these recruits. If that wasn’t the case then yes slim odds agreed

 

Chase Reid is a righty at MSU

Ryan Lin is a righty at Denver

Yeah, I think there's still space available if the staff really wanted to bring in another chippah at D.

Verhoeff, Carels, MacKenzie + another chippah are your four Dmen for PP1 and PP2.

With how young the d-corps is, I'm guessing that the extra player will probably usually be an extra D like it was last year.
Which leaves Emery, Laurila and one of Lindberg/Boser for PK spots.

Same thing as the forward group, there's gonna be some talented players sitting each game.
You hope that the group is bought-in and realizes that...if not, you lose some players to the portal in the off-season and replace with portal & recruits.
Look at the loaded rosters at both Mich and MSU right now...I don't think our staff should be tentative at adding another chippah at defense if they are able.

With Reid at MSU, Lin at Denver, and Carels here, I'll take a shot in the dark and say DuPont goes to Michigan and Rudolph to Penn State. I don't have any insider info, just making a guess based on who has the most playing time and NIL money to offer

Much like having the likes of Toews, Oshie, Parise and Sanderson tied to the program helps with name recognition when recruiting, I think the name DuPont will hold a lot of weight going forward.
We were fairly lucky last year there weren’t any long term injuries on defense, and in other years we could barely fill the defensive roster.  We might have the problem this year that we had last year during World Junior time, but who knows if injuries bite us more.

Yeah…DuPont is clearly the top in that equation. They could easily have Lin and DuPont on PP1.

Forgot about Fiddler going there as well. I highly doubt Denver is in play for Rudolph or DuPont then. They already have two RHD who will be expecting a lot of minutes. Same boat as us really with Emery and Verhoeff
