Win or lose, I wonder what some of these uncommitted WHL guys will be thinking when they see Verhoeff, Reschny, etc. play in front of a packed Ralph crowd this weekend while they are on their team bus in the middle of Saskatchewan.

I think the bigger question is how does Dane and Bryn get it in front of them so they see that!  Probably where the social media accounts become a big asset.

Are any of the big names like Preston Mathis playing both nights this weekend?  Would be nice if the schedule worked out to get a few guys in here.  Of course if their current teams found out they took a visit, that could cause a bit of friction.

True, but this would be the weekend to get them to the Forks.

I was thinking this as well. Would be nice to get a few of the big fish in town for this weekend.

But it does make me wonder if CHL players are taking visits during the season, because unlike the USHL, some people, like Sutter, could look at players differently if they take college visits.

If the player wants to I think the agent tells the coach and team to take a hike. It’s probably 2-3 games missed max assuming they take a couple visits

Still early in the season but if you sort the NCAA top scorers to U20 ages and the WHL it tells the tale pretty quickly

I think every player outside of 1 was drafted in the NCAA in the top 30 (meanwhile it was around 5 in the top 30 for the WHL)

Would assume this makes the decision pretty straightforward, just follow where your drafted peers are going.

Hopefully you accounted for the fact that every late 2007 & every 2008 and 2009 born player in the Dub has not been eligible to be drafted yet

Yeah good to call this out. But more or less shows just how young the Dub has already gotten in 1 year.

Not nearly as many 19/20 year olds for these draft +1/2 players to play and develop against. (Reschny and Verhoeff left last year due to wanting to play against older players and now that point is almost 2 times as true for players currently coming up in the Dub.)

With Grubb being a Shattuck kid I check in on their prep team quite a bit, and a name that pops out is Ethan Sung.  As a 2009 birth year he's second on the prep team in points through nine games and leads the team in goals scored.  Grubb is a 2009 as well, but an April birthday makes Grubb a Junior school wise, while Sung is an August birthday so therefore a Sophomore academically.

Hopefully Grubb can get him on board and that traitor Hale kid stays away from him. 😆

Why do I think he committed to one of the Ives or it’s one of the other two.

Sung could be a sophomore or junior, depending on the school district cut date in Pasadena California. Cut date varies district to district, region to region in the States. I love how Canada uses the federal birthyear system for their school year groupings (January 1-December 31), so thus all Canadian 2009s graduate HS in 2027

Sung has great offensive skills and can fly.  He is very undersized however.

Speaking of SSM prep, their last game in the elite league vs Mpls St Paul Magazine was tight and the 2010's were making their presence felt at that level.  Maverick McKinnon, Drew Daley, and RJ Thompson all had very strong outings.

After reading Brad’s article this morning, Joe Iginla (2026 eligible) is a name to watch. Keaton Verhoeff used to live with the Iginlas.

Wonder if Boston College and Boston University are all in on Iginla. The Iginla family spent several years during and post playing career for Jarome.
