I don't want to be looking for diamonds in the rough...Parise and Toews were no questions asked absolute blue chippers...Sanderson too

The thing about players like Parise, Toews and Oshie is that they were super skilled, but they were also the hardest workers, just relentless.  Don't know that we have had many of our best players being the hardest workers lately.  It is kind of hard for the other less skilled guys to be slacking, when you see the elite players with a dog on bone attitude.

100%...when a player is the hardest worker and has skill that others don't have, you have something special...all three you mentioned had both in spades

I agree with most of your posts….but there are a ton of high high end head coaches that were dmen. Hak was a dman…heck Carle was a dman too and that guy has been on a heater.  I actually love when coaches were dmen….but I agree. We need more blue chips year in and year out to consistently compete.

thanks buddy, if you read my post i posit that as a question...no doubt there are excellent ex-D coaches.  I wonder if it is more to do with era you played in vs position you played?

back to my aggressive comment...here's a great example.  Liam Pue is an absolute blue chip stud 2010.  He is playing up into u18 in BC.  So he's 14 turning 15 playing vs 16 and 17 year olds and doing a great job.  However, if you are a stud 16/17 in BC, why are you not in the WHL or BCHL?  You would be if you were ready/good enough.  So, i have seen Pue many times and agree that he is a top 10 player in his birthyear.  He's also a great kid.  I am a fan and want to see him make it.  It makes sense for him to play up out there.  The best analogy however would be that he is playing varsity high school hockey in minnesota as a freshman.

Completely agree. Ryker Lee/Will Zellers are two that played prep last year that are doing really well in the USHL. But…as good as Zellers is doing, he’s def not a “blue chip”. Should be a nice college player at some point though. Lee…he’s a late bloomer I’ve heard. Currently projected as a 2nd/3rd….although someone recently told me he may sneak in the late first. There’s always outliers though, much tougher to locate the outliers however.

Austin Zemlak to ASU

It feels like the meme of the figure poking something saying do something. Are the coaches even trying to recruit? They need to stop looking at rosters of who might be in the portal and go out and recruit.

Too busy giving the media their talking points on how to justify what’s happening.

I'm wondering if they've talked with several "blue chippas" from the CHL and have some soft commits on one or two but those players are waiting until after the NHL draft to announce their intentions?

I was thinking when the CHL season is over, but same idea.

There are teams taking advantage of the CHL. :whistling:

To me it seems like this is just the tip of the iceberg with the CHL commits.
Not many of the "major" schools have signed CHL commits...and not many of the CHL players already committed have been the really high end talent.

I think once the season is over we'll see more of the high end talent from the CHL signing with the upper tier NCAA programs.
We just have to hope that UND is amongst those teams landing those players...

Who should they be focusing on? A ton of rumors about Michael Misa going out east or even Minnesota. I'd love to know who exactly has the coaching staff talked to?

Thing is, ALL of our coaches played D.
