Most here are pretty optimistic about this year. Winning the conference would be great but do we have the horses to pull it off?

All starts up front, and UND’s offensive line is the best it has been in years, both in quality and depth. Defensive front is a question mark but I think most will be pleasantly surprised ……

I hope I'm wrong but I think it'll take a few more years before we are in position to win the conference.  I expect a big step forward this year but until we get more of our high end recruits in house we may not be quite at that level.

Really hope this team can stop the run. A top 3 MVFC team against the run should be an annual thing. I’m still a bit worried about the depth at DT and LB. The secondary should be pretty good, but will depend on the guys up front stopping the run and getting to the QB.

Respectfully disagree.

I'm thinking 8-4 and a couple playoff wins minimum, anything less is really unacceptable.   Winning the conference might have to wait a year or two but it sure will be nice when it happens.

I believe overall team depth has improved with the additions. Many times our lack of depth showed in games in the past. If our depth, speed and fundamentals improve on the defensive side this season, I believe we can get to 8 wins.

That's not good news at all. I hope we find a new guy to help that spot before the end of fall camp. @forksandspoons

I think we'll have some growing pains early on. But I think we'll get better as the season goes on.

7 DTs on the roster, 2 of them being true freshmen and 1 being a converted OL.

Wonder if Vig will play on the inside from time to time?

I would guess they’re going to need at least one of the true freshmen LBs to play a good amount, at least on special teams.

Most ends/edge will move in to DT as needed. The 3-4 big DT’s will stay inside though. Depth isn’t great but not bad if no injuries. There will be young guys in the mix for depth. Blegen was as effective as anyone last year.

From Tom’s article today : “ The practice featured a few tussles, which is typical of fall camp, although in recent history those skirmishes tend to break out a little deeper into camp when players start getting tired of hitting the same few players”

LOVE this.

Makes sense! Hopefully everyone stays healthy.

Miller did mention Vig was playing inside some yesterday:

Today's Miller report is full of individuals doing well.

He mentioned Wyatt Bell making a play at DL. He was a OL last year. Was he counted in the DL list?

I saw that too.  Tom has really stepped up his game.  Interesting camp and Tom and UND360football are keeping us informed.

I found it interesting that freshman RB Charles Langama getting a few more carries and looks.  I'm excited to see what he can do for us.  Has unique elusive running style and was very good at Maple Grove.
