hockey will do just fine down there no matter how much you say otherwise regardless of how well or not well fb, basketball, baseball, and volleyball do.

It will be on ESPN+ app, you will still have to pay extra as they won’t air the games (unless a “premier” game is negotiated) on the regular ESPN channels. The ESPN app is like 8 bucks a month.

it happened as recently as 10 years ago ( do you miss d2 schools UAA, UAF, Michigan Tech?), ....with the NIL and streaming rights it'll happen again and.....soon imo

As for getting rid of small school programs in the NCHC, I think what you really want is to somehow get into the B1G hockey conference. The ONLY way I would support that is if the B1G makes it worth our while financially. If not, then we should stay put.

scsu will be closed in ten years....and miami just plain sucks and are a better fit for the ccha (could say the same thing about duluth being a better fit for hte ccha but at least they don't suck)

so what i'm saying is who should/will replace them in the near future?

heck even ASU could get pickup up by the big10 (on the flip side they could then drop the other und...then it would be either HE or nchc)....

and yes...wouldn't mind THE und being the 8th big 10 school.....who wouldn't

Miami has been talking internally about moving to the CCHA. I think it will happen the next couple of years.

Like I said, unless the B1G makes it worth our while financially, we can just stay put in the National CHAMPIONSHIP Hockey Conference!!!

You should’ve watched the frozen four and heard Buccigross. Heinert is an elite play by play. Never undersells a goal, no matter which team. Brings energy. The only time the stories get carried away are when Fabian joins him. He’s awful and has told stories over top of goals

If you pay for espn+ for the 6 months that hockey is on, you pay $70. If you pay for NCHC tv for the season, it’s over $100.

I would hope part of the negotiations would a weekly game (or series) on one of the broadcast channels.

I did watch the frozen 4. I also have 30 yrs experience w/radio and tv. Mhd mn spuds, concordia college sports. Also univ of iowa hawkeyes sports teams. All mens and womens sports. I upvoted your post as u have some good thoughts. As far as heinert being elite? Is it possible we arent talking about the same thing.  Heinert might be considered a good color guy. He doesnt/cant do play by play. Play by play is a specialty. Umm,he never undersells a goal? That’s possible.  He does oversell run of the mill plays. As well as, yelling too loud. He th audio levels of the mic. This happens because the midco sound crew is not paying attention. Heinert was hired because they got him cheap. Heinert could probably be a good color guy. With extensive training, he might be able to start doing genuine play by play. But he needs a ton of training. He also shouldnt stay in this market much longer. He needs to move on. Get his foot in the door of a major college athletics program. He does have talent. Midco does have good equipment. Go sioux

I should’ve phrased it better. He is an elite college hockey play by play voice. There are not many good ones compared to him. It’s difficult to watch any other broadcast in the conference

I think we get used to listening to the talent that’s available in our market. Plus, heinert’s still young. He needs to move on. Get an opportunity to work with the best talent in sports broadcasting. If he stays here too long, he’ll get stagnant. He needs to inch closer to major market sports. I would expect him to leave if midco doesnt get the contract. I have no inside info. It’s rare that a play by play guy like timmy h, stays in one place for so many yrs.  Go sioux

I enjoy Alex's broadcasts. I think he must do excellent research before each series. I've enjoyed seeing him on CBSSN too.

That said, I also enjoyed when Jake Brandt was on the broadcast. I thought Jake brought good inside knowledge from having been on the team and from the goalie perspective. Also I looked forward to seeing what he was wearing each game. Absolutely loved the emotion Jake showed every senior night. He absolutely bleeds green and pink.

I seen what it cost per month/year but I never heard that $190 million deal and it seems awfully high but hockey east is right in ESPNs yard. I do know the deal isn’t just for men’s hockey, it also includes the females too. They are essentially buying 28 teams and well over 600 games.

B10 wouldn’t, you have to be a full fledged B10 school to get a piece of the pie (it’s in their league rules) from their network.

thinking outside the box is fine but saying stupid things like getting rid of Duluth, St. Cloud and CC for lindenwood, TSU and a club team is just plain stupid. Adding those three diminishes our leagues strength TREMENDOUSLY.

Ya sure he could leave but where is he going? Sports broadcast jobs (like covering an elite program) do not come available often and usually when they do, their replacements have already been chosen.
