I still think Colten St Clair is the dark horse in this race.

But given timing and requirements, Herter seems to have the inside lane. That said, Jax, Simmer, and Chyz are all Canadians, as is Herter. Smaby is US citizen (as is St Clair).

Does St. Clair have 7 years coaching experience?

I can't imagine they put this as an Associate position and the salary range at $185,000 - 222,000 to bring in St Clair. Love his upside as a young coach, but this looks like they're going after Herter. I have no inside knowledge or even know if he would take it, but it certainly looks like they're making it compelling enough to try to get him.

Looks Like Herter was making $110,000 at Western.

I think the timing on this one is telling.
Why wait until this Monday to post the job when it could have been posted last Monday easily?
I'm thinking/hoping that they waited to post until today to make sure that their chosen candidate had concluded his season.

Doubling his salary and having him come back to his alma mater?  From the outside, it certainly looks compelling for him.  :)

and about half the distance to his lake place...Let's hope Martinson and BC were firing on all cylinders with their sales pitch last weekend!

St Clair is a bit too green for an associate head coach role…maybe an assistant, but not associate head coach. He needs to lead a ushl team first. Or be an assistant on a high functioning D1 program.

Money, title, and timing all point at the eighth overall pick of the 1989 NHL Draft.

Herter jumping might be a signal WMU's head coach may jump also (NHL).

Between this and the money, CSC is a dark horse long shot (at best).

I would think Jax would have dual citizenship by now.

But if Ferschweiler was leaving, wouldn't that leave Herter next in line at WMU?  Why would he leave if that were the case?

Good take. The salary range & timing of the job posting point towards Herter as clearly being the one. So if Chyzyk & Martinson were in St. Louis Saturday night, & the posting follows on Monday morning with a salary that only Herter with his level of experience would be qualified for, then all signs point toward Herter. It would no doubt be difficult for him to turn down double the salary at his alma mater. Plus more job security if Ferschweiler is a flight risk to the NHL in a year of two.

2 defensive minded assistants would be odd

I've posed the same question, but haven't gotten an answer here yet as to how that dynamic would work out between Herter & Simpson. UND could certainly use Herter, but it would seem kind of odd unless Simpson maybe took on a different role with the team.

A return to NHL coaching for Fersch has been speculated.
