nodak651
Someone put together a cool interactive rivalry map that shows rivalries, along with info about primary, secondary, and non reciprocal rivalries. Great article as well. The creator conducted 700 surveys and he used that data to create the map. https://substack.com/home/post/p-150376861
Big Green
This is interesting, but a very small sample size. Its interesting that neither Duluth or Denver are listed as UND's Rival and I would consider them the top 2 rivals to UND. Mn does nothing for me anymore, except for Pairwise implications and seeing how we stack up verses a good non-conference team. I was also told by a Mankato fan the UND is their most hated team. That more Mankato fans are also fans of Mn, so they don't view them as a rival. Of course that was only one persons opinion
cberkas
This would be better if it was done by each team individually, in the NCHC alone everyone wants to be UNDs rival.

You can click on each team to see more data. Did you find the interactive part?

The lines are only displayed for everyone's primary rival, but if you click on a team, it will show the primary, two secondary's, and then any other schools that received votes. I'd love to see an option to include lines for schools that are mutually secondary rivalries. The data is there though if you click around. Just curious what scientific logic was used to draw that conclusion…I might argue that with 3 national titles since 2017, everyone’s “must-see” home hockey weekend is Denver.
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer
As someone else pointed out, 700 is an awfully small sample size

"Must-see" home hockey weekend doesn't mean "rival" though.
siouxfan512
I've never considered SCSU to be a huge rival. Always a good weekend of hockey and generally two really good teams but there isn't that hate like with some other teams. Denver, absolutely! So many crazy games going back to the Paukovich hit on Bina, the brawl at the Ralph, the dasher dance, and some big time hockey games too. Biggest rivalry we kept coming out of the conference realignment. I would even put Duluth over SCSU, there were some pretty big and intense games over the past 10 years; and heated moment (paging Mr. Pionk). MN is not the same as when it was WCHA, but its still a rivalry, with some bragging rights. Just not the same when you don't play twice a year (at least). Back in the WCHA days I would have put Wisconsin up there too, but that has certainly dissipated. Omaha doesn't seem like a big rivalry to me as a UND guy, but I think it is a pretty big one for them.

I guess I wouldn’t. It just is really clear, especially with the Internet, that everyone hates UND. Probably because we have the most fans and we travel and Denver lacks those so other fanbases don’t get as riled up with them.

DU has "daddy doesn't love me" energy when they keep adding natty's and other than the handful of die hard's, the rest of the city doesn't even know DU has a hockey team (or that college hockey is even a thing). Then they see us take over their rink and ruin their little echo chamber and that makes them angry...
