sioux rube Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Good one in Jamestown tonight. Mandan came out on top 5-4. Jays beat them there 5-4. Jays were down 4-1 going into the third. They scored a quick pp goal then a bit later made it 4-3. Pulled goalie when 5-3 and scored with a minute to go. Had a couple grade A chances the last 45 seconds. They will meet again probably in opening round of West Region Quote

Wilbur Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Devils Lake with quite the run. They take out North tonight in Devils Lake and officially avoid the play in game. If they beat South/Shanley on Thursday they will end up 5th in the region and would play Davies on Tuesday. Currently 1. Central-locked in. 2. RR-Locked in. 3. WFHS-Locked in. 4. Davies-Locked in. 5. North-5th or 6th. 6. DL-5th or 6th. 7. Sheyenne-7th or 8th 8. South/Shanley-7th or 8th, they hold tiebreaker over Sheyenne. 9. GPR-Locked in. 10. Mayport. Quote

Johnny Five Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Per Bob Gillen's website: Twenty Six Year Feat Accomplished by States Top Scorers This is my 26th Season as the ND High School Hockey State Statistician and I cannot recall a time over the past twenty-six seasons of what happened tonight [2-11-25] with the top two scorers in the state on the same night in Boys High School Hockey. I do not keep that detailed of stats, but I cannot remember two players on the same day achieving this feat let alone the Top Two Scorers in the State in Boys High School Hockey. Congrats to Bryce and Mackley for their performances tonight! #1-Bryce Mattern F Jr. W.F. Packers 21-GP 46-33 79-Points #2-Mackley Morelli F Sr. Minot High 21-GP 30-31 61-Points --Both Players scored Four Goals in a Period --Both Players had Natural Hatricks in under a Two Minute Span Morelli had a Four Goal First Period with his Natural Hatrick to start the game. He scored his goals in the first period at the following 0:29 / 1:41 / 1:57 then scored his 4th of the Period at 16:34 Mattern had a Four Goal Third Period with his Natural Hatrick to end the game. He scored his goals in the third period at the following 9:19 then rattled off three straight at 15:25 / 16:10 / 16:28 1 Quote

Played fast pitch softball with him and against him, and also racquetball. I like Pat and he is a really good coach. Things did not go well for West Fargo in their first game without Pat. A 7-0 drubbing from Fargo North with 55 shots given up. Quote

Mayport. for the 5-6 spots, it looks like if DL beats FSS, they will be tied with FN for 5th place both with 21 points. And it looks like DL and FN split their games and both won by the same margin. Anyone know what the 3rd tie breaker metric is? Quote

North didn't pull their goalie last night down 1-0 so they could hold on to the head to head differential, but it didn't work and they got scored on with like 17 seconds left, and now DL holds the head to head if they win in regulation on Thursday. North is hoping for an OT game or a S/S victory, which is always difficult up in Devils Lake. 1 Quote

For DL, beating FSS to continue momentum will alone be important, but the boost of facing Davies instead of hot WF in the 1st round of EDC could make a huge difference for state tournament chances too. That last second goal for DL against FN could turn out to be their biggest goal of the season if they win tomorrow. EDC 1-3 should all be pretty safe bets for state but that 4th spot will be up for grabs for anyone 4-8. Quote
Wilbur Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Tonight all gets decided in the EDC. If DL wins in regulation: North @ WFHS on Tuesday, Devils Lake @ Davies on Tuesday, Sheyenne vs. Mayport Saturday, S/S vs. GPR Saturday. If the game goes to OT: North @ Davies, Devils Lake @ WFHS, Same play in games Saturday. If South wins in regulation: North vs. Davies, Devils Lake @ WFHS, Sheyenne vs. GPR, S/S vs. Mayport on Saturday. If you are Fargo North you are cheering on your Fargo Freeze/Angels buddies to get the game to OT, or to beat the birds. If you are Sheyenne you are hoping your friends up in ice fishing country stay on their hot streak so you get the 7th seed and Mayport instead of the Spoilers on Saturday. Any way it plays out, DL has fought its way out of the play in game for the first time in a few years. Quote

If I had to guess, Park Christian and Moorhead do not have a CO-OP agreement for Boys Hockey. A similar issue exists in East Grand Forks, where girls who attend Sacred Heart play for Crookston instead of the EGF Girls team. I do know there are agreements with Park Christian and Moorhead for Girls hockey, as that line has been crossed in the past. Quote
