The Bottineau goalie Lynnes signed with Wenachee 18U in the CSSHL, they had a chance to contend if he had stayed, bummer. "As of now" the WDA returns only 5 kids that finished in the top 100 in scoring statewide last year, and there isn't a lot of bantams coming up that are anywhere near remarkable. Jamestown is maybe a team I wouldn't sleep on, I would not be surprised at all by a Jamestown WDA championship 1-3 Minot, Jamestown, Legacy, .....roll the dice 4-5 Mandan (2 tendys but nothing else), Century (what will be left by Nov?) another dice roll 6-8 Bottineau or Dickinson or BHS pretty safe bets 9 Williston 10 Hazen. WF, GPR, GF are all losing big pieces but, in a surprise, to absolutely nobody, GF has the depth to reload Picking anything other than a RR GFC Final would be foolhardy. Jamestown lost 3 D men and their top 2 scorers. From my bantam team last year I see 2 possibly 3 on the varsity this coming season. Their junior goalie will have to be really good to get in the top 3 in the west. It can be done but won’t be easy Quote

Could be a really good middle depth team vs other teams maybe 1 line. They have potential IMHO. Quote

Obviously I hope not and with Stillwell as the head coach now he may stick around his junior year. Nobody else is at risk of leaving early 1 Quote

What's the scoop on Century kids leaving early or what's the doom and gloom about there? I see they are supposed to be returning 4 of their top 5 scorers from a solid team last year, plus have a returning goalie who posted .930 SV% in 18 games played. And there's no way that's true about the WDA only returning 5 of the top 100 scorers in the state. Century alone has 5...and even if they are leaving Legacy has 4 (1 sounds like he's leaving), Bott 2, Dick 1, Jtown 3, Mandan 2, Minot 5, Williston 2. Of those 24 are you saying you personally confirmed 19 of them are leaving early? Quote

I guess that kinda explains most of that, but it's not doom and gloom, kids are moving on and moving up. Is what it is. Role players and assist points left there (and throughout west) but, Century might have 3 forwards able to play on a 1st line...maybe on a week-to-week basis that produced even a point last year.... But they will field a 2nd 3rd and 4th line that has produced not a single point at the varsity level. Tendy is solid but it will be up to what's in front of him as well, that may not make sense to you now but... oh well Rechecked the numbers, I admit, I made a small mistake I thought the hockey site had 50 players per page on the top scorers, and I just skimmed the info quick off the top of my head on those kids, so the first two pages thought was 100 its not, it's only 30 per page, but after those 60 it gets insignificant quickly. So, I went through "100" as I originally put up. Of last years top 100 scorers 58 were in the East, of the 42 in the west of which 23 graduated leaving 19 potential returners. Of those 19 there are A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER THAT HAVE CONFIRMED THEY ARE LEAVING, and more to come (camps just starting).... the remaining of those 19 were mostly role players and 2nd assist points, and not tremendously notable. It is 4-5 of those top 60 will return, expanding out to the top 100 it will add 7-8 more returners. I won't break those numbers down any further or name names, cause like I said it's not my place to announce them if it hasn't been made public, some have some haven't. Team ND roster public announcements among other things will be telling on final numbers. Quote
Johnny Five Posted Tuesday at 06:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:52 PM I thought Minot was a threat - at least a minimal threat - and back to back 3rd place finishes the last 2 years qualifes them as such. There will be no such threat in the west next season. Quote

With the West likely having no contenders, is there anyone from the East that will be able to run with GFC+RR to at least give hope of avoiding the all GF ship yet again? FD, FN, WFS, WF? Quote

I've heard rumors from former Central players I know that Paranica may be ready to hand things over to Moreland at GFC. Again, we all love rumors. The not too early, not difficult prediction whatsoever is the Knights are your 2026 state champs. 1 Quote
