suite49sportsgrill Posted December 7, 2004 Author Posted December 7, 2004 Spokefree enviornment?? Sorry. Suite 49 will be a smokefree enviornment. 23 Sports Grill was not well recieved with the University of North Dakota or the Engelstad family. It was to pay tribute to Ralph Engelstad for giving the us the opportunity. However, without their support we didn't move forward with the name. Quote

I Ranger Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 I heard the reason the bar couldn't be named anything 23 is because Michael Jordan has a petent on the number. Does anyone know if this is true? Quote
suite49sportsgrill Posted December 7, 2004 Author Posted December 7, 2004 Not true. Michael Jordan owns Michael Jordan's 23 Sports Cafe. He cannot trademark the number 23. Quote
dakotadan Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 I like the name Suite 49. It definatley sounds like it is going to be a great atmosphere to watch games at. I just drove by there tonight and to hear that it should be open by christmas is pretty impressive, all I saw was a giant plastic box. Quote
SiouxperDave Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I'm glad to hear it's smoke-free. It sounds like Dagwood's will have a little competition now. Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I have a friend who graduated from UND with a business/management degree. He just finished schooling at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in the twin cities. Are there any openings for someone like him? Who can I have him contact about job opportunities? He currently resides in Minneapolis, so he can't attend the job fair. Thanks! Quote
Cratter Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I like the name Suite 49 better than 23 Sports Bar & Grill. The name says it will be upscale, and it's like "hole 19" at the golf course. Quote

SiouxMeNow Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 went by there today and looks like they're going to be pulling LONG NIGHTS to be ready by Christmas (ie the World Jr's) - it's not even fully enclosed on the exterior yet and we're less than a week and a half away... Quote

Like you walk in the door and they stick a GIANT monopoly-guy CIGAR IN YOUR MOUTH AT THE DOOR AND LIGHT IT!!! oh yeah....that's the stuff!! Quote
Cratter Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Opened Monday. http://www.suite49.com/ Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 So, it has opened, for those of us not in GF, how is it? Packed for the Juniors? How's parking? If you park there before a Sioux game and get liquored up, can you remain there and walk to the game? Prime parking... Quote
Local Boy Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 So what's the rap on the joint? Anyone check it out yet? Tough sell in our lil' ol' town I suspect. I'll check it out soon. Wish they'd complete their website so one could get a look at the menu and the rest of their concept. I fiercely support independent operations and encourage everyone to do so! Local Boy Quote
star2city Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 For those out-of-town like me, there was a pretty decent business article on Suite 49 in the GFH today: Upscale but casual Quote
redwing77 Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Trademarking a number... What a concept! I'm going to trademark the number 21 and then sue everyone on their 21st birthday for trademark infringement! Quote

SiouxperDave Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 I ate at Suite 49 for the first, and last, time on Saturday before the Denver game. Our wait for a table was about average (15-20 mins) but we waited for 45 minutes for our burgers to arrive. The service was probably the worst I have ever received in a GF restaurant. I can't imagine how long the wait will be once the full menu is in place. The plasma TVs were cool though. That's the one thing the place has going for it. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Weren't you expecting delays across the street from the game before the game at the hot new restaurant? I plan on eating at Suite 49 for the first time at a time when there is nothing going on at REA. Quote

SiouxperDave Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Weren't you expecting delays across the street from the game before the game at the hot new restaurant? I figured it would take a while to get a table (and 20 minutes was pretty short on the afternoon of a game) but 45 minutes for a burger is unacceptable. Quote
