The Sicatoka
ONE finalist from the NCHC. Numbers three, four, six, nine, and ten in PWR; one Hobey finalist. Biggest Snubs? Ethan Frank, WMU, national leader in goals Ronnie Attard, WMU, but hey, the USOC/USA Hockey snubbed him for Beijing too ... < your nominations here >
brianvf
Best player in college hockey wasn't even in the Top 10. Huge snub.

Agreed, but Jake Sanderson didn't play enough games. It is too bad because he is the best player in college hockey.
Kevin G
I wish that the Hobey was only for skaters (non-goalies). There is an award for collegiate goalie of the year, no?

Just shows how great UND did in his absence that they were still successful despite him missing so many games. Now we just have to hope he's not injured again... Kevin G
I haven't seen some of the candidates play. That being said, I'd vote for Brink: national leader in scoring, plays hard all over the ice, appears to be a classy kid off the ice, helps his team win. fightingsioux4life
This award is a joke. I honestly don't care about it anymore.

It'll be exciting in a couple years when Gaber is a strong candidate for the award.
jk
No forward has put up dominating numbers, so it seems pretty open, especially given a couple of the netminding performances. Sadly, the way was paved for Sanderson, if not for the Olympics and injuries.

The MSU votes also may get split between McKay and Smith. Past Hobey awards seem to have included a factor rewarding Seniors who stayed in college and so McKay would fit that bill. I can see Bobby Brink getting a lot of play from voters who saw a lot of NCHC play. There must be a typo - nobody from UMD? WTH?
cberkas
I see Brink winning it

In all seriousness, I would probably vote for Brink. Another reason: playing in the toughest conference, he doesn't get to pad his numbers against cupcake competition. Now, it would hurt to vote for a Pioneer, so there's that.

I think that he's probably going to be in the Hobey Hat Trick, it's a shame there are no other NCHC players in the Final 10.

The Sicatoka
3-4-6-9-10 in PWR at Hobey 10 announcement, but only one on the Hobey list. The NCHC: TEAM players.
