Oxbow6 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 The PGA Championship has minimal juice compared to the other three majors. 4 out of 5 dentists and golf enthusiasts would rather watch The Players. 1 Quote

Agree it pales in comparison to other 3, dont think moving it to May helped. Personally disagree on Players though, as I think Sawgrass is overhyped and 17 is gimmicky. But im old school and love the US open on tough tracks and the Open with lots of rough weather and carnage, and no what it has generally been in recent years, links golf with scores you see at the 3M Open or John Deere Classic. 1 Quote

Not an argumentative question - why is it gimmicky? Quote

Agreed on move to May, I liked it better in August where it felt like a natural end to the golf season. Now the PGA Tour runs out of a lot of steam in July after The Open is finished knowing we have to wait until April until the next major. 1 2 Quote
Oxbow6 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Been fortunate to have played lots of great courses. Absolutely love Sawgrass. Played it a number of times. Might be my favorite track. 16 17 18 is the best three-hole stretch I have ever played. Way better than 6 7 8 at Pebble. Quote

Just not a fan of island greens so I feel like it's too punitive when a small gust of wind or something doesnt reward a good shot. I absolutely adore the US Open, but I feel the same when greens get baked and can't hold shots. Don't mind high rough because not supposed to hit it there. Quote

Full disclosure I've never played Sawgrass but I've never heard someone choose Sawgrass over Pebble. Who knew I'd get in a golf debate today on SS.com! Pebble with the marine layer lifting and hitting that approach shot into 6, then hole 7 with the waves rolling in. Top it off with the hero shot over the chasm of ocean on 8 and I'm not sure how a Florida course competes with that. Quote

At least confirm you've played Pebble...and not on a sim. Quote

Phil Mickelson accused of inappropriate contact with woman, per report - Yahoo Sports Quote Mickelson's attorney, Tom Clare, denied the allegations to Golf Digest. "There is a great deal of misinformation circulating and, while Phil's full attention is devoted to a private family health matter, he has retained defamation counsel and is determined to hold accountable any publication or individual trafficking in speculation or false rumors," Clare said. Doesn't sound like the club is or employee is taking legal action. He wouldn't comment to Golf Digest. What are you trying to not get out Phil? Quote
