FGHTNSX Hawkey14 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Ok, let's play a game to numb the pain of that loss to the Denver Pio... er... Referees. Gonna make an All Time Greatest UND Fantasy Team, consisting of the best players in North Dakota history. 4 centers, 4 left wings, 4 right wings, 6 defenseman, and 2 goalies. Let's start with goalies. Quote
FGHTNSX Hawkey14 Posted November 19, 2017 Author Posted November 19, 2017 C: Jonathan Toews, Tony Hrkac, Travis Zajac, Brock Nelson LW: RW: D: G: Ed Belfour, Aaron Dell Quote
FGHTNSX Hawkey14 Posted November 19, 2017 Author Posted November 19, 2017 Maybe a slight bias towards more modern players. Quote

Oshie, Dave Christian, Drew Stafford, Brandon Bochenski D: G: Ed Belfour, Karl Goehring Any objections/suggestions are welcome and appreciated. This is mostly based on the names that jump out from the list of UND Alumni that are (or were) in the NHL, and (yeah, it's a little embarrassing) the UND legends list from the siouxshop website. I run them through the hockey-reference.com player comparison to determine the order, so don't put too much stock in my rankings. Quote

Oshie, Dave Christian, Drew Stafford, Brandon Bochenski D: G: Ed Belfour, Karl Goehring I felt like I was really stretching for the left wing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Snake Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Based on time at UND, I'd definitely have Jeff Panzer in your centers list over Brock Nelson. 1 Quote
cberkas Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Porter and Malone over Duncan? Really. 1 Quote

Good point. I think Nelson has the edge on Panzer post-UND, but Panzer did put up an astonishing 81 points in 46 games during his senior year. Quote

Define pros because Ryan Duncan is playing professionally. Really, lists like this are pretty dumb unless you base it purely off of their time at UND. There were some really good players that never played in the NHL or AHL. 1 Quote

Duncan won the Hobby, put up more points, and played 4 years. Porter and Malone should be in Europe playing. If Duncan was the same height as Porter and Malone he’d be in the NHL or AHL. 1 Quote

cberkas Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 If I remember right Nelson wasn’t the center on his line with Kristo and Knight. 4 Quote
petey23 Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Pretty tough to not include Troy Murray at Center. and Jon Casey at Goalie. 1 Quote
