SiouxVolley Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 It's too bad Fargo North's Kira Larson didnt transfer to UND from Nebraska. She chose Mizzou and is leading the team in kills. UND was probably too big a drop competitively. What we need is more power, like NAU 's Vander Plueg, and Larson is three inches taller. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) UND did clinched their spot in the Big Sky tourney with a sweep of the Griz.UNC did win as well, so unless we sweep and they get swept its looking like a 7 or a 8 seed this year. Edited November 8, 2015 by SWSiouxMN Quote
Dustin Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Nice game by the ladies tonight. Blocking was improved. I thought Courtney Place really put her team on her shoulders at the end of set 3. She and Faith Dooley had some nice spikes tonight. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The volleyball team drew poorly for Thursdays game, around 700 people. That will put average attendance down below one thousand for the year, which should be a major disappointment as we hosted NDSU and SDSU this year with big crowds. The 11 am starts didn't help, especially this Saturday for EWU. The average is right now at 1002, and 1000 will be breached tomorrow unless at least 960 people show up. The total attendance is a major disappointment for this program and the athletic department this year. This should have been a program on the rise, not in decline. Quote

Unfortunately, this team under performed, and I think interest waned a little. Quote

Though I'm sure many fell off with the stretch of losing. Scheduling was the killer. I was surprised Thursday was that low, but with the huge weekend of sports coming up I debated not going. If the Big Sky schedules us all same Saturdays as FB next year then UND needs to play the VB games at night and force the visitors to fly out the next day. That'll get the Big Sky to accommodate UND in a hurry. Quote

Pryor hasn't helped rally fans and no one has seemingly taken leadership on offense. Hart is a defensive gem, but this team needs more offensive identity.Good recruiting class coming in again though. Students have not really shown up since the NDSU game. Edited November 14, 2015 by SiouxVolley Quote

Going the other night I was reminded that we don't have a big swinger. Place doesn't even wind up. We don't have a player that will unload a shot through a block like Robinson could. Quote
Dustin Posted November 14, 2015 Author Posted November 14, 2015 I think Julia K brings that power attack, but unfortunately her going down was the turning point of the year. Tied 1-1 at the intermission. UND looked decent in the first, but almost got their asses handed to them in the second. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 (edited) UND battled back to beat EWU in five sets. Attendance was higher than I expected, but not over 1000, so avg attendance was 969.Good luck against Idaho in Flagstaff. Edited November 15, 2015 by SiouxVolley Quote

I hope we can pull off the upset. Quote

I did not know that. The match-up with Idaho is probably the best-case scenario for advancing to the semi-finals. But, without Julia K, I don't see much hope to get past the next team. I wonder if the Big Sky will get an at-large bid this year? Very nice to see good conference competition. Quote

Teeder11 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 How in the heck does MacKenzie Hart not get first-team all conference honors after leading the entire NCAA in digs per set and the year she had overall? Quote

Dustin Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 F-Hawks trailing the Vandals at the Big Sky tourney 2-1. Been very close matches, just like always with Idaho. Season on the line next set. Quote
Dustin Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 F-ing Hawks come back in a huge way! Down 11-6 at one point, the girls end up winning 25-20. On to set 5 (once again) to save the season. Quote
jdub27 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Fighting Hawks take set 4. UND has had Idaho's number this year, hoping they can finish it off. Quote
