nodak651 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 No reason not to! Winnipeg is huge and way closer than the cities.. How many Canadians have we typically had? Quote
jjensen Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I don't think we usually have too many, last one I remember was Bamba, Canada isnt usually have a huge number I'm guessing but if you can get players to buy into a system and set up to be successful as long as they can play at the D1 level might as well give them a chance. Punter Brett Cameron (2008-2012) and LB Curtis Deblanko (2006-2010) were probably the last two big contributors outside of Bamba (2008-2009). Donovan Alexander (2003-2007) was also a pretty solid get out of Winnipeg. Quote

UND92,96 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 UND had several excellent Canadian players in the 1990's, such as Tim Prinsen, Kevin Robson, Greg Lotysz, Scott Schultz, Mike Juhasz and Dwayne Ell, among others. For whatever reason, the pipeline has seemingly dried up in recent years. Quote
Hambone Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 Sounds like NDSU is hitting Canada up as well, as some of the players we have interest in up there also have NDSU interest. Part of that I think is that the Canadian players are being marketed better. Also, I believe that UND has offers out to James Johannason and Ty Brooks from Fargo South. Quote

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we had already offered these two. Your sources are normally very reliable - I will update Wiki. Quote

Not that this has anything to do with anything, but does anybody know whether Johannesson's (sp?) dad is from Edinburg? There was a guy with the same name who was a high school basketball teammate of Scott Guldseth. Just curious. Quote
Tangolou Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Yes his dad was a very good running back for Edinburg in the late 80's. He was a strong back. hard to bring down. He played college football for Jamestown. Quote
