UND and the Big Sky could go FBS

@TerryVandrovec

So the Summit League is awfully fearful that NDSU and SDSU will jump to the Big Sky so they can become FBS too. Tom Douple can't sleep because of worry, while Johnnyboy dozes off.

Thought bizon fans were so sure the UND wanted in the Slummit. Guess Bresciani wants in the Big Sky, which is why Taylor left.

The Summit will survive be taking Chicago St and UMKC from the WAC, The WAC will take schools like S Utah, Idaho St, N Colo, and maybe Weber St that will not move to FBS.

Folley. . . Post after post of this ridiculous blather, you are embarrassing yourself. Your looney bin episode here is obviously fueled by NDSU hatred which is pretty childish on your part. Go ahead with your mindless Big Sky fantasy, but enough with trying to tie NDSU Into it. Not remotely related at all. As for the Summit exit fee, that's just good business for the league, nothing more nothing less.

Yes stay off - no one wants a different view. The BSC is going FBS even though 9 out of the 13 FB schools lose money have terrible attendance and small venues.

You just described teams from the Mac and Sun Belt. As for small venues...Idaho (16,000), UMass (17,000 when they don't play at Gillette). The only 2 under 20,000.

BSC has 6 teams that currently meet the 15k requirement ( UM, Sac St, PSU, MSU, WSU, NAU) and 2 over 20k (UM, Sac St). MVFC has just 2 teams under the 15k requirement (ISUb and USD), but only 1 over 20k (YSU). We are all FCS teams, why should we have 30,000 seat stadiums. NDSU wasn't selling out the dome in 2004, and UND wasn't selling out the Alerus in 2008. So what is your definition of terrible attendance? In 2013 both the MVFC and the BSC set conference records in total attendance.

Why do you and Bison fans care that you have to come over here and fight back? Stuff is said on BV that is made up crap and yet you don't see a bunch of UND fans going on there to fight back.

My definition is in the "NOW" if your talking about moving up to FBS, not 2004.. What makes you think that Sac St, PSU WSU and NAU will draw more fans if they go FBS?

What makes you think any team will draw more fans if they go FBS? NDSU proved they can sellout the dome until they tank a season then people stay home (2009, most of 2010). Eastern Michigan, Idaho, UAB, didn't draw dick last year and they are FBS. Winning puts butts in the seats not divisions. Plus Fullerton never said the "entire" conference was moving up, but most of them. I don't see ISU, UNC, WSU moving up at all. I think it all depends on budgets and FBS studies, which is why most Bison fans think NDSU moving up isn't likely to happen until they have the $$$. If the p5 split, and the rest of the FBS merge with the upper FCS conferences then we have a new ball game.

Overall, a small majority of FBS football programs do generate more revenue than they cost—about $4 million on average, according to NCAA data collected by Daniel Fulks of Transylvania University (virtually no FCS programs turn a profit). The most profitable FBS programs clear up to $38 million, money that can be used to subsidize the rest of the athletic department and in some cases gets turned back over to the academic side of the university.

Figure it out - what's the attendance? It might be only the Montana's that make any money on FB. EWU doesn't draw flies either.

So what you're saying is you have no actual numbers to back up your claim and you're just making it up as you go per usual?

He's a Bison fan, they don't use actual facts, they use the facts that is made up on BV and post them as truth.

The FBS Big Sky will be the following:

UND

NDSU moves from Summit?MFVC

SDSU moves from Summit/MVFC

Montana

Montana St

E Wash

Portland St

Sac St

UC Davis (affiliate)

Cal Poly (affiliate)

NMSU can have a slot if it wants

UNC, ISU, Weber St, NAU, and SUU move to the WAC. The WAC will be a nice mostly southwest conference. South Dakota might have to be in an FCS conference here.

UMKC and Chicago St move back to the Summit.

UCDavis is going to announce a stadium expansion soon (they might not have finances set up for 30,000 seats yet, but 20,000 will do).

Here's E Washington's Gateway expansion which will start soon (http://www.pcs-structural.com/projects/eastern-washington-university-stadium)

Cal Poly has a stadium expansion on the drawing board.

Add up your own attendance at 75.00 per person for the season and see what you get for money? Not hard to see that hockey & the students pay the bills.

Show your work with actual numbers that are available and you'd have a little more credibility.

I see your concept, but the guys in Pierre say the bunnies have to bring their stray, mangy dog with them wherever they go. That'd make twelve (your eleven plus USD).

With all the FBS talk remember this:

http://origin-www.jamestownsun.com/event/article/id/80385/

GRAND FORKS (AP) — The University of North Dakota has signed a 10-year contract to play football at the city-owned event center in Grand Forks.

Dated: Feb 14, 2009...so after 2018 UND is free to move if a remodeled 20k+ Memorial Stadium is available. I think we may see a lot of changes before this decade is over.

So the timeline for UND going FBS is when?

Today: FCS

2018: Idaho joins BSC

2019: UND and most of BSC goes FBS?

Summer 2015: FBS votes on new rules that would allow FCS conferences to move up en masse. P5 in favor because they want more G5 games for guarantees and it helps water down the G5. G5 will strongly oppose, but don't have the votes as FBS is now rigged against them.

By Jun 2016: Big Sky teams elect to go FBS or not and files with the NCAA. Teams that don't will go to the WAC. NDSU and SDSU come aboard.

2016 season: 1st year FBS transition

2017 season: 2nd year FBS transition

2018: Full FBS, Idaho football returns to Big Sky

The Big Sky won't be eligible for the college football playoffs or money until 2026. Only existing G5 conferences will get $1 mill per team until that contract is up. The MVC may move up to, but with NMSU and Texas schools like Lamar and Sam Houston. Wichita St probably restarts FB and wants Texas schools for a recruiting base. The CAA probably moves up with Delaware, JMU, Towson, Stony Brook, Albany, UNH and at least two others (maybe Youngstown St and Maine).
