Cratter
So the deadline has past...these three guys are the only ones that have applied that we're among early favorites so let's help Faison narrow it down and see who the fan favorite is. jdub27
I only see maybe one of these guys being a finalist if there is a top 3. Just my opinion though.

darell1976
I'm kinda torn between Pflugard and Bubba.
UND-FB-FAN
Pflugrad is hands down the best choice. Success in the Big Sky, extensive FBS experience, outstanding recruiter, runs a quality football system, etc. etc. etc.... For second choice, I would go with Bubba. The defenses down at SIU were consistently better than the offenses, plus Bubba is familiar with North Dakota and the region. With how Pflugrad is running away with it in the poll, I hope the same thing is going on in Faison's head...

Tough to take it too seriously when the poll is just made from the three most familiar names from the applicant list. Andrus, Cummings, Dewitt, and Shields plus a few others are very legitimate candidates as are the three listed above. There is a fair chance people may be disappointed if they think the those are the only three candidates with a shot.

Bottom line is only one guy is going to be the next HC at UND and IMO, other "legit" candidates aside, Pflu is at the top of the list by a long ways. I think some are over thinking this situation possibly Faison included...unless someone special comes out of nowhere and applies Pflu as of right now should be the guy. ericpnelson
Can we hire the Marshall guy as team publicist. I kinda wanna steal the air raid siren idea.

I only included these three cause they are the clear front runners and were the only three to apply of the "preseason favorites."

I think you continue to under think the baggage that would come with Pflugard. I don't care if it is real or only perceived, it is there and my guess is it will play a large part into Faison's decision. All those other people would have even less votes than bubba or DeBoer. I only included these three cause they are the clear front runners and were the only three to apply of the "preseason favorites." The only reason that people assume they are front runners is because they have heard of them. And yes, the others would have less votes because they people aren't familiar with them and haven't taken the time to actually look up their background. If someone like Brent Pease would have applied, how many votes would he have had on the poll above? The "preseason favorite" list was pretty much a list of coaches with ties to UND or the immediate area. Faison's past hirings doesn't indicate anything that shows he will lean towards someone that fits that bill. Again, I'm not saying that one of those three won't end up being the head coach, but to think that those three are the only options on the list of applicants is short sighted.
PrideOfTheNorth
I think what we are seeing right now is that Pflugrad is the most experienced, and if he was good enough to coach for Montana, he's good enough to coach at UND. Bohl came with baggage too, not that Pflugrad will automatically come with same success, but he is a great candidate.
UND-1
Talked to somebody familiar with Deboer, as he coached with him. Told me he would not be a better candidate than the one's that have already applied. Great coach, smart guy, but not a real strict disciplinarian. Kind of laid back. Which is fine, but not for this program, right now. UND needs somebody who is going to command respect and clean this thing up.

And how many coaches have had baggage and turned out to be trainwrecks? How much has Bohl been raked over the coals here and in the media for his handling of situations he has had since being at NDSU. Comparing Hoffner's situation to Pflugard's is ridiculous. The Johnson situation wasn't the only off the field issues the Pflugard had, it was just the most talked about one. Hoffner was falsely charged with something and it basically ruined his life.

I don't care if it is real or only perceived, it is there and my guess is it will play a large part into Faison's decision. I don't deny what happened in Missoula with Pflugrad won't factor into Faison's decision, but Weber hired him. Even compared to Andrus (who was abruptly fired from Toronto in 2009 and has been on the downslope ever since) and Cummings, Pflugrad has more college football experience and potential. In your opinion, what kind of disaster could possibly happen if Pflugrad is hired? Nothing would happen but UND having a quality Big Sky program in a couple years. Not every coach is going to have a clean record. And the fact that UND wouldn't be the first school to hire Pflugrad since "the incident" should ease the decision for Faison. Bohl is an idle in Fargo after the 2 NCs. No one has crap to say about him there, except maybe recently since he is departing after their season concludes. Let'sGoHawks!
Can we hire the Marshall guy as team publicist. I kinda wanna steal the air raid siren idea. It would be a travesty if UND didn't capitalize on this marketing opportunity. Some sort of paid trip to GF, someone has to get on this!

Is it??? One was charged with child porn...real or perceived. One was let go over a player's sexual assault case...real or perceived. And that's why Hoffner is out of coaching altogether right now and Pflu got a job and was at Weber last year. "I don't care if it is real or only perceived"...ring a bell??? If you look at the names on the other two polls only a few were "connected to UND." Most were people that were good and had a chance of becoming coach. We only have so much info to pick "our" favorite and these are clearly the favorites. We all can look up everything online and records of everyone that applied. The only difference Faisons has that none of us do in choosing a coach is interviewing him, and one could argue on field results are what really matter here. homer
The people Faison is going to talk with about Pflu are those inside the Montana athletic dept and they are the ones who had to clean up the mess when he was gone. That is why I don't think he gets the job. I don't think the next head coach is on the list above. I vote other.

Probably correct...starting with the president who basically covered his a** by throwing the AD and Pflu under the bus for the Johnson ordeal.
