I should have clarified more. The talk was about getting better speakers, a point was made that part of the reason the speakers are bad is not the actual speaker but the fact that noise echoes. Then someone said we should put noise dampeners on the ceiling to make the PA sound better. Well as a result, as geaux_sioux said, noise dampeners doesn't only take out the speaker echoes but also crowd noise. Crowd noise is what makes a great home field advantage which leads to a better winning percentage. Call it a design flaw in the Alerus, I don't know, that was my reasoning though.
