mikejm
Not a whole lot to argue about there. I'd be interested to see who got the rest of the votes for POY: Frattin got 58 votes out of 96.
jodcon
Despite a few homer picks here and there in the balloting it looks like it all panned out about right, congrats guys.
AZSIOUX
looks good but blood has a arguement to be on one of the teams. go sioux. congrats to the players! 8 games to go
Wilbur
Whats disappointing to me is the fact that some of the players that the media voted for as first team guys didn't even make the 3rd team. Like one of the guys had Sam Brittain as the first team all WCHA goalie..... Pretty fair selections though, I agree with 90% of the picks. Runninwiththedogs
You're doing a disservice to your players by not listing the All-Academic players. (Star means they've won the award before, although how could Maris have won already? He must be academically a junior?) Ben Blood* Brett Bruneteau Brent Davidson* Brad Eidsness* Matt Frattin Chay Genoway* Jason Gregoire* Brett Hextall* Ryan Hill Mario Lamoureux* Derrick LaPoint* Andrew MacWilliam Brad Malone Tate Maris* Jake Marto* Carter Rowney

He was credit wise, a sophomore at UND when he was named the team's 3rd goaltender last year.

You jogged my memory (also that was the only other explanation besides a typo. Academic freshmen cannot win the award.)
fargosioux
From Brad's blog: WCHAs four-time all-league players Bill Abbott, F, Denver, 1952-55 John Mayasich, F, Minnesota, 1952-55 Brian Swanson, F, Colorado College, 1996-99 Jordan Leopold, D, Minnesota, 1999-02 Chay Genoway, D, UND, 2008-11 That's pretty impressive! Hambone
Actually, we got 5. Who is the fifth? I only count 4..... EDIT - something is messed up - in Brad's blog there are five put in the post above there are four. Which is correct? I'd assume Brad's blog so it's five. buckysieve
Didn't the league used to announce the awards on the Wednesday before the Final Five? I don't remember these being announced before the playoffs began.

I don't remember these being announced before the playoffs began. I think they did it the Thursday of the Final Five but now with two games that Thursday they bumped it up. I don't remember these being announced before the playoffs began. They used to be announced at an awards banquet Thursday afternoon before the play-in game, but with the new format (2 games Thurs) they had to eliminate the banquet. EDIT: FHG beat me to it. Runninwiththedogs
You guys are right, the WCHA official post USED TO have JT Brown on there twice but not anymore.

Unfortunately this voting tends to lean VERY heavily on stats alone...especially for dmen, making offensive dmen first teamers and defensive dmen mostly left out in the cold. They were talking about something along these lines on the radio last night too. More so about the "Defensive Player of the Year" award and how they should change it to the "Defensive Player with the most points" Award.
