  1. It was a gopher fan who said the last three seasons were "not an implosion". I was merely quoting him. Or as the Bard would say "methinks buckysieve doth protest too much." I'm talking about Mike and what it will mean to him and his family and the team after how Don treated him. Kinda reminds me of the Timberwolves about 3 years ago; When things went bad, they got rid of everything but the core problem (*cough* McHale *cough*) over the proceeding 3 years. From the rest of the comments I have read from Gopher fans, things must be hunky dory in gopherville. Apparently Mike was responsible for the last few "not implosions", and now the worst is behind the gophers. I remember that Flip's departure turned things around for the Woofies, too.
  2. Golly Cardinal, nice defense of the gophers on the Siouxsports web site. Like anyone but you cares that losing to HC in 2006, not geting out of the regionals after being the #1 seed in 2007 and ending up #7 in the WCHA in 2008 is defined by you as "not an implosion." I thought we were talking about whether Mike was forced out or felt an inner stirring that had him quit the second best job for a gopher hockey alum. My path has crossed Mike's a few times as our boys are the same age here in the cities. We have friends in common but I'm not going to inquire of them how he feels. That would be rude. I really think the question is whether Mike's firing, and honestly that's what it was, is an indictment of the state of affairs "Chez Gopher". So what do you think, is all well in gopherville. Or are you saying that there are no good gopher alumni who are qualified to be part of the coaching staff. And the firing of the most popular and only gopher alumni is a sign of things finally turning in the right direction for a program that is NOT imploding.
  3. Did anyone catch the announcers say the officials stopped the game twice because someone was throwing money on the rink??? Unbelieveable!!
  4. It's his last game in maroon and gold silly.
  5. I moved to Directv from cable a few years back for the panoply of hockey games available on it. Dishnet has made gains in the last few years to be right up there. I almost got rid of my Directv 5 years ago as the signal was very sketchy, during windy or even light rain. When I had PSB install my FTA dish, He checked my Directv dish and found that the technician who originally installed it was not very good. It was barely on the satellite. Since PSB re-adjusted it, I have had no problems. So the lesson to be learned is that if you don't have a good consistent signal on your Directv (or Dishnet), have a competent techinician come over, and when he is done installing your FSSN FTA dish, have him take a look at your Directv dish.... GO SIOUX!
  6. I had my first, er, discussion with Slappy at USCHO years ago. IF she isn
  7. Unless both of those guys were skating back to the bench, that was one of the most outrageous homer calls Shepherd has given the gophs. The video from the doug and frank show had two 'kater skaters in the neutral zone within 4 feet of the bench, and the puck was about 140 ft away. Scary thing is, I predicted as much when I saw the referee and assistant for the game. I predict more of the same tonight.
  8. Sorry NDH, didn't mean to dis your kids or anything, but Carroll is the only current Raider I could think of in D1 hockey, and he graduated what, 2002? Granted, I may have missed someone. But Forest Lake has more, and Hastings has more in the WCHA. And if you count the private school kids from the Moundsview, Stillwater and Woodbury school districts playing D1, Roseville and Park don't even come close. Thngs are looking up for the Silver and Black, however Dorr will be playing DI next year to replace Carroll. And Mueller should end up somewhere, too.
  9. Center of Talent? I'd say the Suburban East Conference with the exception of Cottage Grove and Roseville, and all the teams from the Lake Conference. Each of these teams, with the two exceptions, perennially have 3-5 future DI skaters on any given year.
  10. I had a great day thankyou, but I live with my head located outside my buttocks. Try it sometime. And I spend a week of volunteering at Standing Rock every year. I don't even begin to scratch the surface of life "on the Res". I get really tired of idiots who never spent a minute "on the res" but think they know about the lives of native Americans. Come to Fort Yates and see what "120 years of the state ignoring" begets. And unlike Minnesota, in North Dakota the phrase is "keep the gloves on"
  11. And you don't think the state (other than UND) ignores them now??? WHAT turnip truck did you just fall off??? Spend some time at Standing Rock, or at least read "Bury My Heart...." JEEZUZ, I've never called another poster here an idiot, but, but but.. you are a fu "click"
  12. Forced by nature like the stripes on a tiger. It's genetics, it's kinda complex for bandwagon jumpers!
  13. Choice? CHOICE??? I don't have a choice, I was born a Fighting Sioux, live a Fighting Sioux, and shall die a Fighting Sioux!
  14. Sounds like Cary Eades hockey
  15. Now you have my curiousity; Are you a genetics counselor?
  16. I hope you meant chasm, I haven't discussed chiasma since Genetics with Dr. Sayed Jalal.
  17. Synchronized swimming in available somewhere. ESPN 8? I love "The OCHO!!"
  18. I'd love to complain that the Sioux aren't scoring enough, but leading the league in scoring pretty much puts that argument to rest. I guess one could argue "the Sioux have trouble scoring goals in the WCHA, only not as much trouble as everyone else." So I'd change your post to Yes and Yes.
  19. Elsewhere in the WCHA, the #9 team trounced the #3 team 5-1 and the #10 team defeated the#5 team. I guess the Brown and Yellow faithful can mark this one down, "taking the Sioux to 4 periods" on their calendar as a Moral Victory. For those of you keeping score, MVs are worth two points less than actual victories like Mankato and AA got.
  20. And yet the Sioux lead the WCHA in scoring http://wcha.cstv.com/genrel/stats.html?0708/icteam/wcham Dubay per usual, is talking out of the wrong orifice. Typical......
  21. Careful there Buck, Stearns County is much closer to the Twin Cities than to North Dakota.
  22. Geez, that kid is skating his heart out for the best team in high school hockey. Don't call him a loser.
  23. I believe Gleason was on the ice for Tonka's two goals. He looked fast but not very big. Played with confidence, too. Budish looked big and strong out there. But that kind of dominance can change when the average opponent is 200 lbs, instead of 170. Liked to see Giles using 4 lines. Theese big high school programs usualy have enough talent to run 4. And it makes for a faster game.
  24. [ How many people do you know that have done time in either St. Cloud or Stillwater?
