Illinois has released its feasibility study. Needs a downtown arena (being privately planned) as well as a hockey endowment. http://fightingillini.com/news/2018/3/8/general-illinois-releases-intercollegiate-hockey-feasibility-study.aspx#.WqFeKSXvaUs.twitter

Hawk's opinions on the Summit League Tourney in SF
SiouxVolley replied to kiyoat's topic in Men's Basketball
That tournament is just about the biggest thing to hit SD since Mt Rushmore. But bet they don’t fill up many hotel rooms, because most of the attendance is local. The hockey regional could be a much bigger economic impact, as most spectators will be from out-of-state. -
President Kennedy Candidate for UCF President's Job
SiouxVolley replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Community
All the Presidents aren’t there. DenverU Prez is a woman. Abbott from USD just had a heart attack. Don’t think UNO’s Chancellor is there. Douple looks like a clown. Bresciani is shorter and trying to outfox the others. Schools that are endanger of leaving, like ORU, WIU, and IPFW, are usually at those meetings as they don’t want exit fees raised.- 485 replies

#8 UND (11-19) vs #9 MSU (13-18) BSC Tourney Round 1 3/6 2:05 PM
SiouxVolley replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
This story from last year said the Summit has entrance fees of $250,000. Would assume every year would get a cut of the NCAA dance receipts, because the Summit distributes them equally. Not many leagues reward actual NCAA dance participants a bigger portion, but a few do, like the A-10. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4206401-und-officially-makes-move-summit-league-missouri-valley-football-conference -
Hawk's opinions on the Summit League Tourney in SF

Arch Madness attendance dropped to 35k, it was 47k last year, because Wichita State fans were the most rabid. -
EWU isn't going now. CWU wil be brought to the according to their President for 2020 specifically for EWU travel. Chaves knew what was coming and he decided to move to a program that is elevating. EWU can't afford to elevate itself, even with a couple years of pleas to fundraise for a new stadium. EWU just threw in the towel and punted. Weber St is building an athlete workout building attached to their 18k stadium that will be remarkably like Montana's upgrade. Weber St will be Mont St travel partner and Montana will partner with Idaho.

WIU won't tolerate a Summit football conference. They will leave as that too much travel for everything. UNC wouldnt get accepted by the MVFC even if the Summit was just going after their Olympic sports. UNC will stay West to protect all their sports as five isnt enough for Summit fb.

The OVG group that is remodeling/rebuilding Key Arena intends to bid on a new NBA team. The NBA arena proposed by the Hanson group is still far from being approved. The prospective Seattle NHL owners have vowed they wouldn’t pick the Green and Yellow colors of the Sonics, as that is reserved for them.
-
The Seattle NHL season ticket drive reached 33,000 sold before the drive was stopped Friday afternoon. Some are just partial season tickets as the capacity of the new Key Arena is 17k. They started a wait list for people that were late. https://www.si.com/nhl/2018/03/04/seattle-nhl-expansion-season-ticket-drive Maybe the NHL will be sufficiently satisfied that Seattle will sell out.

With UND in and UND dropping baseball, the Summit Presidents have to be thinking they won’t do things like before, relying on baseball and men’s soccer for an auto bid. The future of the Summit must include football and sOme Big Sky schools to not only survive but thrive. Keeping football out of the Summit is the surest way to Summit destruction. Their business model will change, as numerous businesses do to throughout their lifetimes.

Hope you realize what you have posted goes entirely against the premise of the Argus-Leader article on adding Augustana. Augustana simply does nothing for the Summit for five years as Augie wouldn’t be a DI school and as Augie doesn’t have the correct sports mix after that.

The women beat Rutgers today for their seventh straight win. Granted, many of their wins are against MEAC and SWAC schools and Rutgers, but a great start.

These are the names reserved on the internet for a new Seattle NHL team: http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/news/seattle-nhl-expansion-team-names-best-worst-mascot-kraken-emeralds-totems-rainiers/fbal84bpz7v1di89hmfe5ajj

Looks like all kinds of bisonville posters are defending AlphaGriz on AGS because he’s such a good tail gate pal. https://deadspin.com/college-football-message-board-owner-turns-out-to-be-ha-1820918702

Well, the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader came through with a story mostly about why Augustana would be an add. Story confirms that Douple is clueless and IPFW wants out. The Summit should be desperate because if one of IPFW, Western Illinois, or ORU leaves, they have to add a school with both baseball and men’s soccer. https://www.argusleader.com/story/sports/college/2018/03/02/zimmer-summit-league-ready-but-not-desperate-expansion/389074002/

Suspect that is too soon. Last year the Horizon barely beat the July 1st deadline to invite IUPUI. If Gonzaga goes to the MWC, suspect the BYU will leave the WCC too and go to the American. BYU is just too prideful to go back to the MWC and they have made enemies there as they hatched a scheme to pull MWC teams to the WAC to create a viable conference for themselves. See Seattle going to the WCC and forcing the WAC to offer ORU, which is just as crucial to The Summit as IPFW.

NDSU should follow the Griz lead and ban Lakes from their games. The other news out of Griz nation. Apparently the Griz soccer coach did a lot of recruiting of Vegas. http://missoulian.com/sports/college/big-sky-conference/university-of-montana/ousted-griz-soccer-coach-sent-nearly-texts-to-escorts-on/article_8cc419d4-0061-5ecb-9ab1-a002e97b9e4b.html

He worships the bison fb team. Lakes and him hang out apparently.

A report out of San Diego says the MWC has been talking with Gonzaga about joining. The MWC is in competition with the AAC for P5 status, and the AAC upped it mbb status by adding Wichita St. Maybe it is a ploy to get BYU back, which wouldn't want to stay in the WCC if Gonzaga wasn't there. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/sd-sp-gonzaga-mountain-west-sdsu-20180228-story.html

Guess Freije has an 8th grade sister in Langdon that is projected to be better than Fallyn.

Is she running on a platform to force UND to add back women's hockey? Why doesn't she force NDSU to add women's sports like Title IX says? They could rent Scheel's arena much cheaper. The cost night be equivalent to Mankato's or Bemidji's programs. The WCHA would take them in seconds.

UND needs to start womens lacrosse before any other women's sport. It will bring in 30+ tuitions from out of state, the MPSF needs more teams, has an indoor facility ready, would only cost like 40% of WIH, as it has 12 scholarships to split. Not a DI team yet in Minnesota, but HS's are starting it around the state. It would help getting more gals from the Cities and the western US and also give lax more credence with ND youth.

OneOK announced in its earnings call that it will now proceed with its postponed Demicks Lake (Mckenzie County) gas plant, which will cost $400 million. The plant should be operating in 2019. Gas production has never been higher in ND and just keeps going up. Oil wells may slow decline quickly in oil production over time, but the nat gas produces more than ever, at least in most Bakken areas. Watford City just keeps sprouting major facilities within its county. http://bismarcktribune.com/news/local/oneok-announces-new-gas-processing-plant-for-bakken-core/article_3d2b64b6-1ee9-57f8-8817-95ed986320c9.html

The best solution is move Calgary and Edmonton over to the Central, and move Colorado to the Pacific. The Jets would be happy and the Canucks would have an intense rival down the road. Arizona could move to the Cemitral, but they are effectively in Paciific time for part of the season.
-
No one has the Title IX maneuvering room. NDSU would have to start three women’s sports as it is that short. The SD schools have to deal with a much more stringent TIX situation that T IX dictates. Arguably, UND dropping baseball allowed it to drop the much larger cost of women’s hockey. The no cost solution is to start a Summit football league, and a lot more schools might be interested in that than Summit baseball. If NMSU was interested, they would have already joined.
