So his statements proved he wasn't a clown. Chaves will keep his motivations closed to the public but open to Kennedy. It's like a political news conference but you are too clueless to even recognize that.
-
So I guess you know all of Chaves thoughts as you claim to know everything else.

President Kennedy Comments on HPC Phase II
SiouxVolley replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
The latest Herald article on the future of Gamble seems to promise major donations coming to build a new business school facing University Ave. Those donations may have a part going to athletics. Donations that are solely athletic in nature tend to yield a lot of criticsm from the faculty and associated snowflakes.- 205 replies

One has to understand Presidents reaction to this, which they have known for years. NMSU got $24 million in earned media from their appearance in the lowly bowl in Tucson. It is exactly the placement they want -a lowly Dallas or Phoenix Bowl would be good too. A Great Northern Conference needs to get nearby bowls in the US Bank stadium in Minneapolis and in Seahawks Stadium in Seattle. That is exactly the kind of bowl they want, and bowls and cities are happy to oblige. NMSU gets more than double that earned media from the FBS regular season. FCS teams don't get squat. http://www.lcsun-news.com/story/sports/college/nmsu/2018/01/10/nmsu-report-aggies-bowl-run-worth-24-million-in-earned-media/1021768001/

The EWU board is taliking like CWU in the Big Sky by 2021 is sure thing. For that to happen, the research schools have to be gone first. The Dakota's won't allow Augustana in either for the same reason. Chaves had to leave because he knew the Big Sky's future was ominous.

It would be easy to buy land out west of Grand Forks and build a nine hole course. But private investors don't see the demand.- 205 replies

Think that addition is the prime part for an engineering lab. Petroleum engineering badly needs lab space.- 205 replies

I'm apparently more well read on the Illinois higher ed situation. The directional Illinois schools have seen massive cuts, but the big three of Illinois, Illinois St, and Ill-Chicago have experienced minimal disruptions because of more varied funding sources. Illinois still has major issues, brought about by high taxes. It is the only state that is projected to lose two congressional seat's with the upcoming census. Moving vans are busy there.

The Ellensburg paper details the facility improvements CWU needs for DI and the Big Sky. Why weren't they an option when UND joined? Because the research schools didn't want them. The research schools will be gone by the 2020-21 season when CWU joins Portland St, EWU, UNC, NAU, and SUU. Watch for news about Dixie St,, Azusa Pacific, and maybe Simon Fraser too. They will be stuck in DII without fb opponents if they dont move up.

President Kennedy Comments on HPC Phase II
SiouxVolley replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
Kennedy's cuts seemed to strike where there was a strategic opportunity. Hyslop's open space would make a great UPSON II, which is engineering lab space. So swimming had to go. Ray Richards will make way for a new stadium and Hospital.- 205 replies

CWU is making plans for facility upgrades. The rump of the Big Sky will need more teams. Evergreen St has melted down, and CWU has seen an increase in enrollment of those trying to avert snowflake students and professors. http://www.dailyrecordnews.com/news/
-
Twitter reports the the CWU President wants to build up their facilities to FCS capacity for a CWU DI move. The Big Sky would have to split for that to be allowed.
-
A MAC-Horizon bus league is inevitable. Oakland, Toledo, Illinois St, and Buffalo are just a matter of time. Bowling Green badly wants out of the WCHA. The pieces are just about there.
-
Adding Ariz St and UNLV to the NCHC would cause WMU and Miami to leave. Net positive.
-
Portland St just got a new AD from Willamette College, Jan 1st. Their old one high tailed it to Ga Tech to become a deputy assistant AD. An awful lot of AD turnover, especially on the side of the weaker or lesser financed Big Sky programs. The Portland St board seems pretty convinced that a Big Sky split will happen soon, so jdub and southpaw need to be posting there to give them their reassurances.
-
It would be nice if Chaves could take Mannasau or some other UND person under his wings and gave him some real executive experience. Some AD's just want to hog all the pertinent experiences for themselves like often happens in corporations. Healthy organizations are always grooming internal people to eventually take over. In my mind, that has been a problem with UND leadership for more than a decade, as they are so intent on holding any power strings and vetoing leadership development. Look at the UNDEERC, the Business school, entrepreneurial school, the Law School and Kelley as examples. The Aerospace school seems to be an exception. Kennedy and Chaves should foster that development.
-
Deanna Carlson-Zink, Steve Brekke, MM, and Valerie Sussex have in their job descriptions to raise money for the athletic department. An AD should only be an auxiliary help.

Criticizing a comment again? Oh my word. Our negative Nellie strikes again.

UND (5-11, 1-4) vs Weber (10-6, 3-1) 1/13 2 PM
SiouxVolley replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
Drew over 2000 to the game. Nice turnout. Buchanan, Walters, and Brown seem to be delivering key minutes and points and Crandall seems to have got his rhythm back. -
Congrats Mr Chaves and best of luck. Know I'll be excoriated for this but big changes are coming to the Big Sky. My feelings is Chaves knew EWU couldn't hang with the Idaho, the Montanas, and UND when they split off. Weber St will take their place and Chaves already knows this, so he cut and ran to a better job. The fundraising job at EWU was just too much for FBS.

New York Times has a big sob story on UND dropping womens hockey
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Women's Hockey
Guess Fargo and Bismarck have so many sophiscated people that they would outdraw teams in NWPL cities like New York and Boston that have trouble drawing even 1000 fans a game to tiny rinks. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nwhl-hockey-slash-salaries-1.3857931 Put your mony where you mouth is and invest in a Fargo NWHL team. Fargo would hit the big time finally. -
This article says WMU and GVSU are in an enrollment war, with GVSU winning even without DI athletics. http://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/index.ssf/2017/12/a_tale_of_two_schools_comparin.html

UND women's hockey was such a shock for women's rights, second only to Crooked Hillary losing. Oh the humanity of it all! -
