What Grand Forks badly needs is a home grown corporation. A listed successful corporation brings much wealth, which creates opportunities throughout the community. Fargo had one in Great Plains software, and its just grown from there after being swallowed up by Microsoft, releasing a billion in capital and attracting more programming talent. Brookings has one via Daktronics. Thief River Falls, Warroad, Roseau and Greenbush all have theirs too, otherwise those communities would look more like Halstad or Crookston, whichnstill rely on agriculture and government. Branch operations are nice and provide jobs, but don’t bring in nearly the wealth and corporate affluence.
