  1. Just the week that NMSU goes into high gear for FBS teams, Weber St opens its new pro style stadium addition that pro scouts have raved about. https://www.standard.net/multimedia/photos-inside-weber-state-s-new-facility-at-stewart-stadium/collection_07bf6552-7c11-54eb-91da-2597ad4d5898.html#4
  2. BYU tried to save it so BYU could have a decent conference, but Fresno St and Nevada left anyway, not wanting to be subservient to BYU.
  3. Men’s volleyball get a whole new conference of HBCU DII schools that will play at DI. https://www.augustachronicle.com/news/20190904/paine-college-announces-addition-of-mens-volleyball-program The DII Carolina Conference also sponsors the sports at the DI level. The sport is growing at both the HS and college level.
  4. Pioneers are almost exclusively European and therefor racists, scream the professors including Denver U’s admin. The admin already gave up the Daniel Boone type mascot for a convoluted bird, so dropping the name is the next step in progressivism.
  5. The travails of the WAC and Summit continue if they desire to exist in the future. https://letsgodu.com/2019/08/30/wac-wobbles-as-chicago-state-circles-the-drain/amp/?__twitter_impression=true They need to exchange teams with the Big Sky and take Southland and Big West fb schools that want to be FBS.
  6. A new women's league in NE gets an OK from the NCAA. https://www.uscho.com/2019/09/04/new-england-womens-hockey-alliance-approved-for-ncaa-division-i-status-effective-with-19-20-season/
  7. U of New Haven wants DI. That would make 8 for CT. https://www.courant.com/sports/college/hc-sp-university-new-haven-sheahon-zenger-20190904-20190904-gtansaqirvh43nj4wveqg327vu-story.html
  8. So Bismarck gets a Costco first. https://bismarcktribune.com/news/local/bismarck-city-commission-annexes-land-for-costco-approves-m-development/article_b1ce6fb8-dc57-5030-894d-25f47d2b3222.html
  9. With the court removal of probation of states that allow sports betting from hosting, Las Vegas is bidding on NCAA championship events. https://www.casino.org/news/las-vegas-officials-submit-ncaa-host-bids-city-viewed-as-frontrunner
  10. Bozoville is looking forward to the Delaware game there as they have a bye this week.
  11. When NDSU goes FBS and needs attendance to qualify, a 35,000 paid audience helps in case the season is a disaster ( FargoDome roof caves in).. Maybe it even goes to the Wells Fargo stadium. NIU would be a natural, as they haven’t been drawing well late in their season when it’s cold and wet.
  12. UND would not play a piss ant Pioneer League team like Butler. UNI would be a more appropriate opponent because both teams would bring fans. Even St Peter has said he wants UND fb and hockey games there. The NDSU -Butler game was an epic failure compared to St Thomas - St John’s as it attracted more fans from both teams and was not a rout.
  13. Expect him to deal with facility issues. Both hockey and football renovations. Those are only two sports that matter to the fan base.
  14. So NMSU’s AD gave an interview where he hired a big shot to get NMSU and GCU a new conference. There is no body looking now for addition in established FBS conferences. NDSU just did a Target Field game in preparation for FBS and expect they will try again with an actual FBS team (a MAC school as the opponent). UND has to do what NDSU does or fall behind again. I expect the WAC, Summit, the Southland, and the Big Sky to do some massive reconfigurations now that PFW is now gone, possibly in the next month. The Summit is for the first time free of EST schools but needs more teams or different sports for compliance. NMSU’s AD just gave their fans a courtesy announcement so get a head’s up. https://csnbbs.com/thread-881999.html
  15. The new signed form is due Oct 15th signed by the AD. If he signed in error, jail time is possible. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/athletic-directors-concerned-they-could-face-prison-sentences-because-of-new-ncaa-legislation/
  16. What I thought. Who would expect a moose to slip onto Memorial football field the week of the NDSU game?
  17. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/27530938/moose-loose-north-dakota-practice-field
  18. Guess the NDSU-Carrington, NDSU-Hettinger and NDSU-Langdon branches are huge.
  19. UND is currently ranked at #234, which is five places worse than preseason. All the teams played were rated worse. https://www.masseyratings.com/team.php?t=5538&s=308159 Villanova will be the best rated non conference opponent, but Denver and USD are more highly ranked.
  20. Based on the comparable scores, UND should do well in the next game. Drake 36. Butler 6 UND 47 Drake 7 NDSU 57 Butler 10 30 + 40 - 47 = 23 point favorite for UND if comparable scores work, and not saying they do.
  21. Nichols St has been at least as good as Georgia St for years, but that’s not saying much.
  22. Think three divisions should be two so the schedule isn’t so different in the leagues. Houston was just as bad as Detroit just a few years ago, but they have really turned it around. But Minnesota can have a legitimate shot at a World Seres win. In 1987, they only finished like 4+ games over .500 but won the west and still won a WS. In 1991, they again won the western division and had a great team with Jack Morris, Puckett and Hrbek and won the WS again. But they need starting pitching stars like Morris.
  23. Three juniors now seniors transferred out: Fraser, Kayla Williams and Maggie Smith. We were already young last year.
  24. The Twins play in the weakest division in the ML. Detroit, Kansas City and Chicago WS are three of the bottom six in the entire ML. Since the Twins get to play them each 19 times, and only play out of division teams seven at most, the Twins have a very weak schedule. Even Baltimore has a higher ranking than KC and Detroit. Not saying that the division weakness is perpetual or anything, but a fairly good team should really be helped by playing almost half its schedule against deadbeats. Even Cleveland is barely mediocre according to these ratings. http://proxy.espn.com/mlb/stats/rpi
  25. Suppose they expected a rebuilding year. Need a lot of situations to be corrected to compete against higher level. In previous years, coaches expected they would be competitive against higher level teams, which mostly was true except last year. Non Conference VB schedules are mostly formed in the spring. Not common to have longer planning than one year. Think Cal Poly, which got a major transfer from UCLA before last season, really upped its schedule to reflect its higher status. Upper level teams like Penn St, UCLA, Nebraska and even Minnesota really guard their schedule as they want competitive games.
