Wouldn’t surprise me that PUFW is paying the Horizon League to accept them, as they know travel will become so much worse. The Summit is in an existential crisis again because of baseball. They will switch to football.

Our AD move from EWU was a major sign. EWU is still struggling with financing and building a stadium to FBS standards (15,000 seats) even with the new AD from UTSA, who has FBS transition experience. Sam Houston St and Lamar both were on record before WAC FBS collapsed as wanting FBS, even approaching the Sunbelt before being turned down in favor of Coastal Carolina. They haven’t said anything since, although both are still growing, but have presumably been satisfied that they would get a WAC slot when the WAC was ready for a whole group. UIW and McNeese St both had articles in local papers lately that they were considering a move to FBS. The SunBelt is full. Cal Poly and UC Davis both want to expand their stadiums to more than 15,000 and soon. Was wrong about a move up early with Idaho as the CFP wouldn’t have been part of it for seven years. That is nearly $10 million per team in lost revenue.

Because a single school moving up without FBS conference mates would have a nearly impossible expense and scheduling problem. Moving up multitudes of FCS schools to FBS is so much cheaper as the conference provides the FBS opponents and they are all equally prepared.
-
Funny, I was called the Rube Goldberg engineer because I could devise ways to get a complex chemical batches on spec saving millions of dollars. The schools have had time to get to their desired higher conference with the least expense and following NCAA rules.
-
Because the WAC is the wannabe FBS schools free pass to FBS. Those schools need it to fill their goals. To go the route of Liberty might not be possible and can take time aNd extra money.
-
The WAC has to make major changes to survive. Most of these moves should be done this school year. The final FBS announcement won’t likely be until 2022, but that doesn’t mean they made the decision in 2022, but when the WAC football blew up. It was too late for to qualify for the CFP contract then, so FBS wasn’t cost effective for the schools listed until 2025.

My understanding if a conference falls below seven full DI members, there is no grace period and the conference is dead. There are different rules for single sports conferences. Dixie St would need four more years if a rule existed and only two years of grace are given for other circumstances.
-
They will be out shortly after the audit. Have less than 1500 students and hemmoraghing everywhere. Very little endowment and a public school. They only are a WAC school by contract, not a full member like the other schools, so the WAC doesn’t have to vote them out but only refuse to renew their contract. The WAC needed them for numbers for almost ten years and they won’t need them shortly as few schools want to be associated with the dumpster fire but the WAC chose to because it was in dire straights.

It’s so amazing that the WAC will be down to five full DI members after 2020, GCU, NMSU, Seattle, UVU, and UTRGV, but the trolls want to shut this thread down. Not having seven full DI members gives the NCAA the right to take away all the WAC’s bids by dissolving it. Dixie St and California Baptist don’t count. The WAC needs to find new fully DI schools by next summer. The WAC is the only non football conference that can invite schools to FBS, so its spots will be in demand. Have said Sam Houston St, Lamar, McNeese St, maybe UIW, UTRGV, UC Davis, Sac St and Cal Poly will accept the WAC’s offer, and then UVU, Dixie St and Seattle will scurry to the Big Sky. ORU and UMKC will then join the Texas-based eastern division and the Summit will be screwed. But then out of no where, the Montanas, Idaho, EWU and Weber St will be so sickened by the new Big Sky that they will join the Summit. The only contribution that bison trolls have made in the thread is stating their AD’s position, which is “NDSU has no plans to move to FBS in the near term” as proof that NDSU will never move up. Suspect the football teams in the WAC and Summit will stay FCS until 2022, and then move up. The Summit will have all the FCS teams under its new league and then they will all be WAC affiliates with North and South divisions until their fully FBS. The key date to shoot for is 2025, when the CFP contract will be renewed and each G5 team gets a couple million a year under the new estimated terms.

Bison73 wants me banned as I called him out on the old guard would FBS like DI had for all the pre-1978 teams. That just just enraged him because he saw the fallacy of his logic. So he signed up for another nickname or got a friend to and proceeded to petition for a ban, like he has done for Lakes several times. Anyone that likes FBS for the Dakotas and Montanas is despised by him and they shouldn’t get a voice. Lakes pushes FBS but only for NDSU and U Montana.

The UALR AD has left for the UTRGV AD position. Such a move would be unthinkable in the past, as the WAC has too little teams and UTRGV has sucked in almost all sports. But rumors are that UTRGV will start football with FBS in mind and UALR did a football study that said no. Starting a football program and moving to FBS is a big resume builder for an AD. https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2019/aug/03/ualr-s-conque-accepts-new-job-20190803-1/

Chicago St is in major trouble with the WAC, as they have “ review audit” to see if Chicago St continues as WAC member. Chris Zorich was let go as AD for not raising enough money and CSU is undermanned in several athletic positions. https://chicagocrusader.com/zorich-out-at-chicago-state-outside-audit-of-athletics-forthcoming/ Whn the WAC lets go of CSU, they will be two under the necessary members for 2020 (Cal Baptist and Dixie St are still D2). This when the WAC needs to invite their anointed FCS members to stay alive (Sam Houston St, McNeese St, Lamar, maybe UIW, UTRGV, UCDavis, Cal Poly, and Sac St).

Old guard is trying to defend leather helmets from his senile condition at an old folks home.

Old school before 1978, when the NCAA split off FCS, had all DI schools In one classification which is now FBS. In order for you to be old school, you have to support a move to FBS, which you refuse to do and are vehemently against. FCS playoffs are a modern day joke to old school thinking. As always, you never think before spouting off, as your incapable of it. Guess NDSU must forfeit all the FCS championships according to your old school thought.
-
More evidence that you are a fool and an idiot and that isn’t name calling but simple facts. The Summit wouldn’t have got a bid in its history and would be a cash burning operation.
-
Your a brainless beast of a mouse. Take away the Summits autobid and next to no conference money would be coming in and NDSU looses its Dance bid it just got. The Dance bid is why most presidents want DI. But what else to expect from a troll turd. For the millionth time, not worried about the Summit because it’s going to sponsor football. Only stating the repercussions if it doesn’t, which trolls refuse to take seriously.
-
The two Summit schools without both baseball and men’s soccer are UND and USD. He suggested that those schools missing those two sports should add them. I guess in bison73turd’s book, that excludes them.
-
You are such a damn hypocrite. That’s what you do all the time but you want to protect another troll.
-
The MVC isn’t formally attached to the MVFC, hence separate names. The MVC needs men’s basketball, baseball and men’s soccer to maintain its autobid just like the Summit. The NCAA considers the MVFC to be a single sports conference. The Summit could take the MVFC under its umbrella, but it still would not have the necessary six Summit members to count for the conference autobid so the Summit is still screwed unless Northern Iowa or Illinois State join the Summit, which will not happen because of $’s, prestige and 2nd and 3rd bids.
-
UAF and UAA will proceed semi-normally this fall as the merger will take several years. Two hockey teams now,, but unknown for the future. https://www.adn.com/sports/uaa-athletics/2019/08/02/as-university-of-alaska-moves-toward-consolidation-two-athletic-programs-are-likely-to-become-one/
-
The Summit won’t have an autobid for FCS for two years even with.a new football school as they haven’t been together for two years. But if UND, Montana, Montana St, Idaho, Weber St ad EWU join at the same time they will, as they have been conference mates for more than two consecutive years. Those six satisfy the NCAA rules for an autobid. UND joining the MVFC for one year destroys that option.
-
So UND and USD are going to add baseball and men’s soccer per Gothmog. A move like that would consign both schools to mediocrity in those sports and the Title lX adds too. No wonder Gothmog is for it. Getting four to six more football schools would elevate the status of the whole Summit Conference, but that wouldn’t be in your interest.

UMKC just got a quarter million $ gift for women’s bb, but nothing for a baseball team. http://www.umkckangaroos.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=18300&ATCLID=211807958

Like who would be joining for baseball and men’s soccer? DII teams that won’t be DI for five years? Both of those sports are needed by the Horizon and MVC, so there is no pickings for existing DI teams. Even UMKC declined adding baseball and skipped to the WAC. It has been proven that UMKC won’t add baseball for a Summit bid. Your ideas make zero sense. Douple has next to nothing to do with expansion. The expansion committee is chaired by SDSU’s President, or used to be. The Presidents vote on new members and then tell Douple of their decision. Why would SDSU not demand UND keep baseball before joining? Commissioners only are key in conferences membership decisions that have major cable or Network contracts where the broadcast partners can block a new addition or bless it.
-
Been saying the Summit has a plan ever since UND joined and probably way before. But UND dropped baseball soon before it joined. UND and USD are shoehorned in, without meeting those baseball and men’s soccer requirements, as if it is expecting football to meet the conference requirements, which will happen.
