  1. The two most eligible DII schools in the Midwest are Grand Valley St and Wayne St, which have academics and enrollment to find ancestors a DI move. Why are they not DI? IMHO, the Slummit doesn't want them because then the Slummit would have six FCS teams, and the other Slummit football teams would have to give up their precious MVFC spots. The Michigan schools will not move without football being scholarship. It's those kinds of blatantly short sighted decisions that will doom the Slummit League. The schools in it aren't acting in the best interest of the league, but their only own selfish interests. Mankato needs to tread lightly because the Slummit is trash.
  2. Sitting in a Pie Five now in Tennessee. Their conveyor oven is only 600 F and is ready in four minutes. $6.99 for a 10" any and all toppings. They are Texas based, but have sites in Omaha and the Cities now. Fast casual pizza will be the next Chipotle concept, but there's a lot of competitors. www.piefivepizza.com
  3. The MVFC is a whole different animal than the MVC. The MVC won't take anyone, especially transition schools. The MVFC will take every Tom, Dick, and Harry, unless that Tom is UND, who was black balled by a couple of Dicks (Chapman and Taylor).
  4. Wouldn't be surprised if the Longhorns take their balls and go to the ACC. Probably take Rice or Tulane with them. Longhorns think theyou are a Notre Dame. Also, the pending loss of revenue will cause the P5 to want more G5 teams so their guarantee games go lower.
  5. The Slummit might be forced to take them if they lose a couple teams. Could also see the Horizon as being interested, but not the MVC. They might have to put football in the Pioneer League. They are butthurt at not being In the NCHC.
  6. Spear is wrong when he talks about six teams, which was the rule when the Big West was FBS. It's now eight teams. A rule change will be needed for FCS conferences to go FBS, but now that the CCG has been decided, think the P5 will start pushing for it, much to the consternation of the G5. Rule probably will be changed by summer.
  7. Google Sean Kramer Spokane Spear Idaho for a great link. (cant link today) In a blog post, Idaho AD Spear shows an FBS map of teams and points out the absence of FBS teams in Montana and the Dakotas. HE states that Idaho will be striving to connect with those state in the future.
  8. 1000 Degree Neapolitan opened. Anybody been there?
  9. Sneaking a dead buffalo into the Ralph would be tough. Perhaps Kauk could do it under his coat.
  10. Forgot to mention the G5 conferences get bonuses for where they fall in FBS SOS. The Sun Belt finished last in both years so far of the CFP so they missed out on dollars Last year they were edged by the MAC, and this year by the CUSA, so they finished last both years. Without Idaho and NMSU, the Belt would have finished higher and therefore gotten more CFP money. If Idaho or NMSU was an emerging powers, things might be different. Couple that with the expensive flights to get to Moscow and Las Cruces (compared to bus trips for many Sun Belt schools), and you have compelling arguments to dump them. If a Sun Belt team is going to travel to the Northwest, better to get paid a million dollars than to go as a conference trip with no reimbursement. The Presidents will vote their pocketbooks, and won't support charitable organizations when times are tight.
  11. I shouldn't have brought up Cieslak's brother, but from third hand information sounds like they wanted more personal brotherly interaction, the family situation is better here, and A&M is not ideal for playing time. But there are other complicating factors.
  12. The Sun Belt doesn't seem to want a CCG, because they don't have large traveling fan bases, don't have a site for a game, and a network would pay not much for it. The Big 12 on the other hand can get megabucks. The Belt needed Idaho and NMSU as an insurance policy against further poaching and for having enough teams to transition App St and Ga So properly. Having Idaho win the western division would be a disaster if it had a CCG because Idaho fans wouldn't fly east on short notice and a eastern team fans wouldn't go west on one weeks notice. Idaho served it's purpose in the Belt and it's going to be dumped, IMHO. To stay, Idaho would probably have to give a bigger travel allowance than the $1 mill it gets from the CFP for being in the Sun Belt. It's better for Idaho to move on than stay in a situation that turns off casual fans, like playing in a conference where teams are more than 2000 miles away. NMSU might have more of a chance at staying, but not much.
  13. The St Louis Rams got approval 30-2 to move back to LA. Their new stadium would be built in Inglewood. The Chargers have a one year option to move to LA in the Ramsey new stadium. The Chargers may a vote coming up this summer for a new San Diego stadium. If the Chargers don't move, the one year option will go to the Raiders. Oakland is still working on new stadium options.
  14. There still time to enroll. It's not too late to change his mind.
  15. It would be more difficult, but possible. Research and economic growth are a much bigger part of the equation today. Clifford came from a business academic background and UND didn't have much research then. Arguably, Purpur has a business and planning job that could be well suited for a University President, but the faculty and pinheads will only think in terms of dumb jocks, as the faculty is so tolerant.
  16. The Idaho Prez just wants and needs to shake down the alumni for more athletic donations. They don't have enough money for their new BB arena to start construction. If Idaho moved down, the Idaho admin would be run out of town. Idaho got nearly $2.5 mill more from FBS than they would get from FCS: $1.1 mill from Auburn, $1.0 mill from USC, and $1.0 mill from the CFP. In FCS, they could still have guarantee games, but at a third the price.
  17. Does Grady want to box? He was quite good in that sport and maybe even more potential.
  18. 76.5 fb scholarships is acceptable (90% of 85) for FBS. Don't think all MAC schools do it.
  19. Carson Wentz's draft will bring much more attention than anything the bizon have done on the field. That said, I long for the days of Best Buy and petition gate. Thought those days would recur by now.
  20. No offense to Wyoming and Idaho, but if they can be FBS, why shouldn't UND, Montana, MSU, NDSU, and SDSU be allowed too?
  21. Ga So and App St. But I'm a bowl geek.
  22. They will need to start women's lax, women's hockey, and equestrian so they don't get crossed off a list just for Title IX.
  23. Totally disagree on this. The MWC would take a Texas school like Rice, UTEP, UTSA, Texas St or North Texas or even UCDAVIS well before they'd invite NDSU. Even Wichita St with a fledging FBS program might have a shot. Montana and NDSU would be laughed off the table with MWC presidents. The MAC doesn't need anybody, but if they did they would go with JMU, Delaware, Stony Brook, Albany and even Fordham before they would look west.
  24. Half the faculty and some of the libtards students would hold a starvation fast at Twamley before Purpur gets in. His only chance is if Stanford bestows an honorary doctorate on him.
  25. More bowls would be needed if the top FCS teams move up. The real money is with the CFP, especially if it expands to 8 or 16. The G5 will not accept a G5 only playoff. A Houston-Florida St Peach Bowl is much better ratings than a G5 playoff.
