  1. So why have twenty teams moved to FBS from FCS in thirty years if FCS has so much national notoriety? GaSo, Appy St, Ga St, FIU, FAU, Charlotte, So Alabama, Troy, UMass, UTSA, and Texas St fans are all screaming to go back to FCS. They complain all the time on FCS boards. The P5 sure complains about all the FCS moveups, especially since they changed the rules making the P5 an effective monopoly.
  2. The Florida Panthers got $86 million in support from Broward County over the next few years. Imagine if they hadn't got that, Quebec City or Las Vegas would have been getting a team next season. The Phoenix Coyotes are moving out of Glendale in a couple year, maybe to a remodeled Coliseum, where the Suns used to play, or a new arena on ASU's campus.
  3. Know some posters can't handle this, but here is how the MVC would handle going FBS: MVC North Drake N Iowa I'LL St Bradley S Ill Loyola Ind St EvansvillE MVC South Mo St Wichita St Oral Roberts Denver UT-Arlington NMSU Sam Houston St Lamar MVC gets to nine FBS teams with WSU adding football, taking NMSU, upgrading Lamar and Sam Houston St Every new team in the south would jump at the opportunity. The Slummit would be decimated. NDSU, SDSU, and USD have standing offers from the Big Sky, which will take its financially able teams to FBS. Omaha and W Ill would have to beg the OVC. Omaha might get in the MVC if Evansville defects to the Horizon or OVC. IUPUI and IPFW would get ASUN offers as a pair.
  4. CBS Sports has a story out the the MWC is interested in expanding with UTEP and Rice. If CUSA loses those two, they would hold pat. MWC has no interest in Idaho or NMSU or even NDSU and Montana for those of you following Lakes wet dreams. Rice should just hold tight, as the American would call them up next if the B12 takes two American teams.
  5. A bone the P5 threw at the G5 is that the G5 will get their highest ranking team into an access bowl ( a New Years Bowl not in the playoffs) if the don't get a G5 playoff team. Fomerly, under the BCS system, the highest ranking G5 team would have a right to play in a big bowl, as long as they were ranked #16 (I think) or above. Cincy and UConn were members of the Big East at the time of their big bowl appearances. The Big East at the time had P5 privileges in the BCS.
  6. So reference which planet, including Pluto or their satelites, Moses and Sugarbeets resided on, as you are the resident space cadet here.
  7. Must have missed the part where Moses brought down on stone tablets from Mt Sinai the FBS regulations, and they are forever to be unchanged, even though they have been entirely revamped numerous times by that Holy institution the NCAA.
  8. What part of a paper regulation for monopolies don't you understand? Crystal Sugar made money based on cheap sugar from Mexico and Cuba was not allowed to be imported. That has changed and now Crystal Sugar and farmers are struggling with cheap prices, when before a Crystal Sugar share was a way to effectively extort money from the public. A simple paper regulation can change and has changed many times. The P5 is the new monopoly, and they have the power to blow up the G5 to a greater size so there would be fewer threats to P5 dominance and get cheaper G5 guarantees. Explained this to bizon bozos nearly a zillion times, but they still don't get it.
  9. Denver is almost certainly pulling all the strings they have to get in a future PAC12 hockey and even lacrosse conference, as they have ambitions. That would leave the NCHC essentially a MAC and Northern Sun league. That's not where UND wants to be in the future. Some fans pine for Michigan Tech and Mankato as conference mates. They may get their wish if UND isn't proactive.
  10. All MVC football members have expressed interest in FBS in the last four years, if you would read their local papers. N Iowa has to be FBS if they want to continue playing their FBS in state teams, which is invaluable for UNI. Where would you propose Wichita St played when their football got off the ground, if they were already in the AAC?
  11. Wichita St needs to start a FB program first. The AAC and MWC aren't taking startup programs. CUSA will, but ito basketball is no longer a power league, so WSU can't go there. The MVC will incubate a startup Wichita FB program, but the MVFC will be dissolved first. There is a reason Nielson left W Ill, because it doesn't have a future conference football affiliation. NDSU, SDSU, and USD have the Big Sky option, so their futures are more secuere.
  12. W Ill wil get turned out the MVFC, as will the Dakotas, as the MVC will dissolve it and make it an internal league. Wichita St is not investing tens of millions to reatart football to get more media penetration in Fargo and Brookings. Wichita St wants more presence in Texas and the Southwest, like NMSU. They could easily get San Houston St, Lamar, and maybe even Ark St and Texas St when they are fully FBS. Wichita St is not going to waste atheltic exposure on the Dakotas. They want more baseball schools, including good weather, as they have been a power in that sport. Ind St had an FBS newspaper article four years ago when the MVC tried to merge with the WAC. They talked about a new stadium in Terre Haute, whether you like it or not.
  13. Wichita St is not moving conferences but their President is talking FBS. That does not compute unless that President knows a lot more than we posters do. NMSU is sitting there without an FBS conference, and used to be in the MVC when it was FBS. Think the MVC will take gladly take NMSU if the whole MVC goes FBS. W Ill, Youngstown, and the rest of the Dakotas will be shut out of the whole MVC process, as they won't sponsor FCS anymore.
  14. What if I said the MVC wants to go FBS too, but they won't accept any Dakota school for it? They would have better recruiting grounds if they took C Ark, Sam Houston, S F Austin, and Lamar or alternatively Youngstown St, E Kentucky, Jacksonville St, and Kennesaw St. The bizon could be out on their hineys. W Ill could be especially screwed because they don't have anywhere to go except the Pioneer or OVC, if they will accept them. Wichita St wants fooball back because they don't want to miss the chance at FBS. The AAC or MWC won't take a new FB team, and CUSA is too big a drop for their basketball. Wichita St's President said they have no plans to leave the MVC. How can that be if they want FBS?
  15. UBC decided not to join the NCAA, so they are not allowed. A PAC12 hockey conference needs fervent fans, history, a recruiting base and sterling facilities. It's not any more of a stretch than Denver getting membership in the Big East for lacrosse. If Washington St is a full member, UND is not a reach for one sport.
  16. Deemphasizing hockey is assinine. You don't kill a golden goose. Some day, UND will be in a PAC12 league with Denver and maybe Omaha. That will pay tremendous dividends for all UND sports.
  17. Ask American hockey fan who won Major Junior championships last year. Same difference.
  18. +Penn St +Ariz St +?UNLV -Findlay -Wayne St Those positives seem 》than the negatives.
  19. But the REA is still paying down the Betty, which UND athletics didn't have to fund raise for.
  20. The lack of rinks on college campuses and the lack of conferences to play in are the major reasons for the dearth of DI teams, not Title IX. Look at NDSU, who has tried to get Fargo multiple times to build them a rink. It takes a lot of $ to build a rink suitable for cawledge hockey, and mostly there are not expandable like outdoor football stadiums.
  21. Wichita State sees the American as a natural landing spot, as Tulsa, Memphis, and Houston are former rivals. Must be substance to the Big 12 expansion talks. If Wichita St goes, Missouri St would go to, as the MVC 's cash cow would be gone. MSU has to go FBS to get into another decent league like CUSA. The MVFC could find itself with two openings
  22. Would think the OVC might be interested too. WIU gets greater support than E Ill, and E Ill left the Slummit a decade or more ago. The OVC might want to cut football schollies if EKU and Jacksonville St can latch on to FBS, as those are really the only football aspiration schools left in the Ohio V. The whole Illinois state government system is cash strapped, as Chicago and union corruption and outrageous state pensions has sucked it deep into the red, so that's another part of the equation. Most of the directional Illinois U's have lost 20% of their enrollment in the past 10 years, putting additiona, financial stress on those schools. Illinois, Ill St, and SIUE have escaped the enrollment slump, but W, E, S, N, and NE are hurting. Nielson seems to do a lot with minimum $'s.
  23. SiouxVolley

    Lennon

Still contend that Lennon saw the rise of Brian Kelly though CMU, Cincy, and then Notre Dame, and thought, Why don't I try that? Didn't work out, but it's better to act on aspirations than sit around and say what if.
  24. Thought Sdsu hasn't offered fcoa yet. Maybe in bb, but not in fb.
  25. Seatitle and a second Toronto team would probably accept the largest expansion fees, so the existing owners would profit more. Strance how Quebec and Las Vegas expansion seems to be tabled for now. Are the owners waiting for a bigger payout?
