  1. Absolutely. Expect the NCAA will propose full changes this year to make it easier to move to FBS. The G5 will protest, but there are holding back others and making the NCAA vulnerablet to lawsuits.
  2. Wouldn't expect it to change the Sun Belts view of the Vandals. Idaho is the championship game would be diastrous. The Big 12 might have to take two now: Cincy and now UCONN is getting more press.
  3. The Big Sky acceptance contract for Idaho says that Idaho must be in the Big Sky for football at a later date. The NCAA rules for FBS moveups must first be changed. Expect when Kelley is out the door for this story to blow up.
  4. Many of the latest wells have a higher oil flow than ever due to better fracking techniques, more fracking stages, and more fracking sand. A bunch of wells are drilled but not fracked, as fracking is a significant cost that the oil companies don't want to include now. So if oil prices move up, ND will increase production quickly even if the drilling rigs does not increase. The Saudis and Iranians are in proxy wars throughout the Middle East. Wouldn't be at all surprised if one event sparks an all out Persian Gulf war. Oil could move to $200 a barrel or more if Mideast oil was cutoff (gas would be $8 / gall).
  5. Instead of constantly bitching here, how about someone call Magellan and ask what their terminal price is in Grand Forks? The terminal is on Gateway just west of Simplot. Then how about you ask what their terminal price is in Fargo. Magellan could be charging more because there's no wholesaless competition, unlike Fargo. Since there's absolutely no investigative journalism in North Dakota and Grand Forks, create your own.
  6. Most will survive at least a year. Triangle Petroleum (TPLM) is down more than 90% to less than $0.75. If you only hold it less than a 30-60 days, if the mideast situation gets worse and oil goes back to $100, that stock would zoom up again. Whiting, Continental Resouces, Hess, are all down but not so dire a situation. Generally like the Permian Basin stocks more because the Permian has an extreme amount of oil - even more than Saudi - and the source rock can now be tapped, not just the reservoirs that were traditionally drained.
  7. Now would be a perfect time to buy Bakken stocks. Iran could close the Hormuz Straight except to Iranian oil, backed by Russia. Both Iran and Russia are desperate for higher oil prices. If oil doesn't go up in a month or so, sell. Oil stocks are really low now. Chinese stocks went down big, and not because of the Persian Gulf.
  8. Expect oil prices to rise rapidly. Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran are rising rapidly, which could lead to war with worldwide consequences.
  9. Teammakers would be absolutely against NDSU hockey unless they are on par with UND. Scheels would never do, so they have to invest in a major new arena that Fargo taxpayers won't fit the bill. NDSU would have to settle for the WCHA, because the NCHC would not take them. NDSU boosters would rather die.
  10. A new diesel refinery was announced for Belfield. It would be three times the size of the one in Dickinson. Also, the proposed $4 bill ethane cracker has been further increased in size. Still no word on its location. With the man camps about to be closed down around Williston, Williston itself may be a good bet now.
  11. Boise State has an outdoor field that was designed to become expandable, with upper decks, endzone seating etc. Most college stadiums were expanded in piecemeal fashion, such as Montana's.
  12. NDSU is getting some FBS love from FoX: http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/is-another-ndsu-title-the-tipping-point-122815
  13. Pray that Hardreck finds the best situation for him.
  14. An FBS DL transfer from Texas may be in the works.
  15. It has everything to do with Gene Taylor trying to starve out the Sioux FB program. Any year with a Bizon game in the Alerus would sell out season tickets, suites, and advertising, so the thought in Fargo was that UND couldn't support it FB properly without a bizon game.
  16. Had some errors in a previous post. Grand Forks is served through a Magellan Pipeline through Fargo starting in the Twin Cities. Minot is served though a Cenex pipeline through Fargo and from the Cities. That pipeline goes on to Watford City and maybe beyond, as Cenex has a refinery near Billings too. Bismarck has the NuStar pipeline that goes to Fargo and the Cities which also has a spur line going to Sioux Falls. That line is apparently bidirectional. So Fargo has three different pipeline providers giving it bona-fide competition. GFK, Minot, and Bismarck only have one supplier, each a different pipeline, and all have significantly higher gasoline prices.
  17. Their both the Thundering Turds, so there's that.
  18. Revenue is much greater for hockey. Up to 18 home games per season vs six. How is UND able to have a bigger budget after a bison run of four titles? Most outside observers would see that as unfathomable, and that's not counting the REA budget which is separate.
  19. So who was or is more responsible for the nearly five year run? A. Craig Bowl for his leadership and not chasing cheerleaders in his reign In Fargo? B. Gene Taylor for putting everything in place and taking the heat off players after Best Buy gate and the Marijuana petition gate? C. Teammakers for being just too delusional, as you accuse us of being? D. Mussman, because he was too inept at recruiting and coaching that the Bizon recruited who they wanted, so the team despised by trolls couldn't put up a fight?
  20. The game is pretty high stakes for Jacksonville St because they badly need to go FBS to gain Alabama HS student attention. Since moving to FBS, Troy has massively increased enrollment in part because of online classes, USA has increased theirs, and UAB has at least been holding steady. FBS is a priority for Alabama HS students. U of Alabama has seen surging enrollments, at least 10k, even from out of state, since hiring Saban. Auburn is seen as a poor man's choice for Atlanta metro students, so it has access to a massive student population. Meanwhile, Jacksonville St., which formerly saw Troy as a huge rival, N Alabama, and W Alabama have all had plummeting enrollments. Jacksonville St, which should probably change their name to Talladega ST, has invested in a stadium that was built with a dorm on one side to help pay for the press box, elevators, and high roller party boxes and suites. Jacksonville St is on the interstate between Atlanta and Birmingham, so it shouldn't show the big declines in enrollment that it has.
  21. UNI beat #5 Iowa St, 81-79. That is the second top 5 win for UNI and Jacobson.
  22. Except when they play South Dakota in the Fdome. All the bizons must have been hung over.
  23. The pure refinery companies like Tesoro, Valero, and Phillip 66 are making more profits than ever, as they benefit from low oil prices and higher demand. Bakken oil companies are doing really bad, losing billions this year unless they hedged, as reflected by their stock prices. Saudia Arabia wants to drive the American shale companies bankrupt, and they are well on their way. The shale companies won't get any help from Washington. Russia won't take it much longer, as oil prices are the economy for them.
  24. Around Bagley Clearbrook, there is a spur gasoline pipeline, so prices are usually lower. In E Tenn, prices have been $1.62, and no refineries around, but there is a gasoline pipeline from the Gulf. Access to pipelines make all the difference, as middlemen transportation takes their cuts.
  25. There is a gasoline pipeline from MSP through Fargo to Minot, making prices cheaper along that corridor. There is also a smaller pipeline from Mandan through Jamestown to Fargo. Grand Forks needs trucks to supply it overland. The Mandan refinery has units that can break down heavy carbons, so yes it produces gasoline and jet fuel, unlike Dickinson.
