In 2002, The Frozen Four was in St. Paul, but their regional was in Ann Arbor. In 2003, Mariucci hosted a regional, but the Frozen Four was in Buffalo.

All I was saying (pointing out, really) is that UND has a great opportunity this year to play in front of their fans at all the important games with very limited travel, especially for a western team, which has been pointed out, and that could/should work to our advantage. No asterisks, just a tremendous opportunity. And I'm super excited to watch it.

??

Watched Friday's game live, then finally saw the whole Saturday game on the Midco replay Monday night, and this was my thought as well.

It's possible that the playoff road to the title goes through Grand Forks (NCHC quarterfinals), St. Paul (NCHC semifinals and championship), Sioux Falls (NCAA Regionals), and then back to St. Paul (NCAA Frozen Four). That has to be a geographical travel advantage to UND. Plus, at those venues, the crowds would skew heavily towards UND fans. Let's do this.

Most thought that should have been done after last season. We'll see if that turns out to be a good/bad decision for the sake of the team/program. The leash has to be extremely short. Minimum one playoff win to keep his job.

WTF Landry??
-
In the past, when CBSSN has done a Friday home game, Alex has been the Midco announcer on Saturday.

Ok. While I can't actually see this happen, I at least can understand how it happened. Thanks.

Pretty much everything post-Bison. Has to be one of the biggest falls from grace of a UND coach of any sport at any time. He should have retired the week after Sac. St.

One nice thing about the QB race for 2024 is that Landry will not have any preconceived notions on who "should" start based on when or why they were recruited. I know that shouldn't have mattered even if Danny were the OC / QB coach, but I'm sure it is harder to remove yourself from rationale like who's been in the program longer, etc.

Yeah, I was all ready to watch this, but then it never happened. Does anybody understand what happened that can provide a sentence or two write-up? I tried watching the live video while pausing to keep track of the puck, and I can't find it. All of a sudden, it's somehow in the net and we're celebrating. At first I thought it probably slid under the net from the back or side and it wouldn't even count, but with no challenge from SCSU, I presumed that's not what happened. Did it come in from the top, like behind the goalie's shoulder/back?? Just a weird weird sequence all around.

Anybody have a good angle replay of UND's third goal? I still have no idea how that went in.
-
Danny coming back for that.

A Landry once did great things in Dallas. Here's to this Landry doing great things in Grand Forks.
-
If it is indeed Landry, here's what the write up from the Herald said about him: Like King, Landry is a Grand Forks native who played quarterback at a local high school and has a respected dad in prep coaching circles. Landry was a state champion quarterback at Grand Forks Central (a star baseball and basketball player, too) before starting at UND following ... you guessed it: Freund. Landry, who has connections to offensive line coach Joe Pawlak and played at UND with defensive coordinator Joel Schwenzfeier, has a desirable resumé for this role, as he has experience at the FBS levels with time spent alongside former UND offensive line coach Rod Carey at Northern Illinois and Temple. Landry has two seasons under his belt calling plays at St. Thomas and two more years experience calling plays in a successful stint at Division III Wisconsin-La Crosse. Landry has also coached for two seasons at Minnesota-Duluth. The connection to Pawlak seems like a nice upside. That maybe can keep him at UND a while longer.

Who knows, maybe this is our Belichick-Brady combo. You don't know until you try.
-
Can't remember - did he state a reason (on record) for entering transfer portal? Any chance he winds up at UND again? Just can't remember the specifics of this move.
-
All I can say (besides congrats to Tommy) is that Trey or Jerry better be lighting it up next year. Otherwise, UND got duped B1G time.
-
Congrats to Team USA! Only bummer is no UND player gets to celebrate a gold medal.
-
Is a link going to be shared so I can watch at work? Yesterday I was at home and watched on NHL Network.
-
I assume you mean quarterfinals?
-
Thanks for putting this together.

Kind of a random question, but with the U-18 team coming to GF and WJC going on, I began to wonder about how common (or rare) is it for an individual to be on one of rosters but not the other? For instance, how many players on the current USA WJC roster were on the USA U-18 roster 1-2 years ago?

I doubt that they are ok with status quo. More likely scenario is that they can't snag the players that would make a difference there.
