I actually think Emery will take a big jump this year. First rounders typically get better very quickly. Given that Zmolek has barely played any hockey the past 3-4 years, I’d start him out on the 3rd pairing; top PK unit with Emery. Reason being is based on the fact Wiebe and Liv will be top 4 (I’m assuming) and Emery and verhoeff also need to be up there as blue chips. At least until the optics show something needs to change. Wiebe-verhoeff Livinavage-Emery Strathmann/Laurila-Zmolek is a really nice third pairing TBH. Crazy to think either Strathmann or Laurila wouldn’t be guaranteed a spot. Both will be really good college players.

I’m clearly in the minority…but I like him. He’s always been a huge fan of college hockey when not a lot of folks were. I was with him in Tampa after the boys won a natty and he loved Nodak and the fanbase. To me he’s fine.

I’m not sure I entirely agree with the makeup of these lines….but it’ll be interesting to see how it all comes together. I’m thinking menghini will be bottom 6….hes never been a consistent point producer. But I’m hearing he works super hard and is tough to play against. Which teams need obviously.

What is going to be really interesting is who will run PP1 and PP2. We obviously have Liv and Wiebe…but this is Verhoeff’s draft year and many expect him to go 2. At the very least, he’s probably taking Wiebe’s spot on pp2. Good problems to have I suppose.

Oh that was the angle…got it. Mason is obviously an Edina kid, he’s also got a great head on his shoulders so I doubt the girl thing comes into play. I will say this…he just isn’t the type of kid that goes to UND. It won’t happen.
