  1. The Ralph has about 4+ million in it's capital improvements account. With a recently updated players area and a new scoreboard, it would be nice to see that money go towards a practice facility on the north side of the Betty, which would help. It's in the Athletics Master plan at least, but there wasn't any mention of a new scoreboard being needed in the Ralph, so who knows what the next project is. Highly doubt that money goes towards anything football related, so if it isn't hockey, the Betty would make sense. How do the locker rooms and athlete facilities in the Betty compare to other Summit schools?
  2. You make it sound like it's easy to pick a up and coming coach. For example, Sather fits that description pretty well, but how is that going so far? Would DeBoer be where he is today if he got the UND job? Is it certain he actually would have done better than Bubba? His non UND success doesn't mean that he would be successful here. Maybe he was riding the coat tales of head coaches? Maybe Bubba would have done better if he had the budget to hire a better OC than Rudoph.
  3. Easy to say in hindsight. Tons of young talented coaches who move up to D1 programs fail, and it's not always the coaches fault when it happens either. It's just not that easy... would he have the same career trajectory if he came here?
  4. Let's see whether or not he brings in a ball handling point guard who can dribble. This eaglestaff kid sounds promising but I don't know what position he plays. There's a good chance Sather has 4 freshman of the year in a row though. The first two left. Seems like the guy is a good coach but I want to see some legit D1 athleticism come in. Given how unathletic this team is, they do decently well as a team despite losing every game, considering how bad everyone is at shooting also. I think overall you have a legit gripe about recruiting. I'd say give him another year as he was kinda screwed with so many guys leaving as he came in and he had to find replacements during covid. Gotta be at least 500 in conf next year. I'd still rather have Sather over Jones.
  5. When you are actively seeking employees, better pay attracts better employees(applicants). Paying an employee more as he becomes more attractive to other programs is also important if you want to retain talent. Overpaying or giving non sensical raises to below average employees does not make them better. In summary, higher salaries attract and retain better coaches, and the answer to your question is "both". Better coaches will eventually get higher salaries, but likely at a different school if their current school under pays.
  6. She's 85 of 88 on the year... crazy.
  7. They don't have to give it to Bubba. Put the money towards keeping assistant coaches in place or hiring better ones. I just don't see how you can be so critical of Bubba while discounting the fact that he has to find a coach for 40k. No wonder our running back got run over by our WR in the Utah Game.
  8. Any word on assistants? I think I saw the job listing was taken down. Would his wife coach?
  9. This is from Montana's 2020 NCAA report https://www.scribd.com/document/515961667/Montana-2020
  10. Kramer has a seperate 10K bonus, which can be found in the link I attached, but other than that I agree with you.
  11. It helps to pay the right people enough money to stay, if you do find them. RB coach is a great example. Based on Rouse's salary, it's very likely Kevin Maurice left for more money when he went to EWU in the first place. He was just hired by New Mexico State as a position coach. If Bubba has a higher budget for assistant coaches, he likely doesn't lose either of these guys.

  15. I there is buy in from enough of these schools, I think they have an antitrust argument and the ncaa would grant a waiver. There isn't an fbs conference in the region and these schools generally fit the profile of the g5 schools. NCAA can't prevent schools from going FBS, effectively, based on geography.
  16. You spelled two wrong dumbass!
  17. Also, isn't this a complete flip flop from only like two years ago, and was ridiculing the pro fbs crowd?
  18. Different topic. If UND were to go FBS, are 15k seats even required? Reading the NCAA bylaws, I don't think they are, as long as the "tickets" are sold. Could just sell 3k "standing room" tickets to a business. Attendance with the tickets is only required if they are sold at less then 1/3rd of the highest ticket cost. Bylaws mention nothing of capacity. ------------------------- 20.9.9.3.1.2 Paid Attendance. [FBS] For purposes of computing paid attendance figures, tickets must be sold for at least one-third of the highest regular established ticket price as established prior to the season, regardless of whether they are used for admission. Tickets sold at less than one-third of the highest regular established price may be counted as paid attendance only if they are used for admission. Student attendance may be counted as paid attendance if the student pays at least one-third of the highest regular established ticket price or, if the student actually attends the game and any one of the following conditions applies: (Adopted: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05) (a) The student paid an athletics fee; (b) The student paid an institutional fee of which a certain portion was allocated to the department of intercollegiate athletics; or (c) The student paid no athletics fee, but the institution allocated to the department of intercollegiate athletics a certain portion of tuition income or general operating funds as the equivalent of a student athletics fee.
  19. Agree with you on that. What are they using the other end zone for? The could sell the other end as standing room only tickets, get some beer tubs that serve that area only, and operate it like the two bars at the ralph with a party/social atmosphere. 150 capacity at say $20 a ticket. Best of both worlds.
  20. What is the plan for the balcony in the other endzone?
  21. This new Peterson Porch sucks for students who are over 21 by the way. No place to watch the game now if they want to sip on a beer.
  22. Curious, would it make a difference to you if they opened up a section for general admission seating?
  23. Biomedical Engineering?! Wow. Good luck to him.. hopefully he gets rich and becomes a major donor!
  24. WIU seems to be doing well despite nearly everyone on their team transferring out. https://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/western-illinois What's the difference between them and us? Sather has been at UND a year longer than their coach, correct? I'm not saying that Sather doesn't deserve more time. Just saying... we seem to be good at finding excuses. https://www.mcdonoughvoice.com/story/sports/2021/10/15/wiu-men-hoops/8466404002/
