Maybe for football, but I don't think UNI has the money or desire to start a hockey program. They are basketball first and would have to compete with the waterloo Blackhawks who already have a loyal following.

Northern Iowa doesnt have hockey?
-
If the Summit League doesn't add hockey, St. Thomas is going to be poached by the MVC sooner than later. Would also help to mitigate the risk of Omaha or Denver jumping ship as well. Dropping SCSU for Lindenwood doesn't make any sense to me. Neither does ASU. If hockey adds anyone in addition to St. Thomas, make it Mankato and get Red Barron to sponsor the conference tournament again in St. Paul. Drop Miami if anyone, and don't add ASU unless Miami leaves - protect the conf tourney in St. Paul.

This would make a lot of sense (see below). And given that gambling in gf is apparently dominated by like three groups, there shouldn't be ANY complaints about it. Playmaker’s All American Lounge is a “boutique casino” where players try their luck at blackjack and games of chance. The lounge features, and pays tribute to, the All Americans from the University of North Dakota. Playmaker’s All American Lounge is the official pre and post game gathering site for UND Athletics. Meet friends at Playmaker’s All American Lounge and relax with drinks and snacks as you watch the big game.

I'll PM my email chain to you when I get the chance and you can let me know if I was respectful or not.

Chaves will reply with a PC non answer, ignore, or pawn the question off to someone else.

This post is the give away... SD UND is Sather.
-
This is a fun idea. Anyone else think UND should try this next year before Christmas?
-
QB Depth is more important, IMO. And never know if one will transfer.
-
If UND started the season ranked 10-20 last year, we would have had a home game vs Weber guaranteed. Would have been much harder to place UND in Ogden if they were ranked higher. Pre season polls at the fcs level have a huge baring on the end of year rankings - placements are incredibly sticky.

Could someone please remind me how to hide spoilers on NCHC.TV? I can do it on Roku but not on their website. Help appreciated... Had 9 goals spoiled this weekend!

I was responding to this "At that point, no more excuses, but we know that won't be the case. " We don't know the results of future seasons, let alone the next game. You're making a lot of assumptions.

Agree. I just added it as a second poll question.
-
No we don't, but ok.

Because both coaches compete against others who play by the exact same rules as they do. An argument could easily be made that Sather isn't utilizing the portal in a matter that best fits UND's situation - his recruiting strategy sucks. That's on him and not the portal. WIU was way better than UND last year and that's after everyone on the team transferred out - their new coach found D1 transfers. WIU is less desirable than UND in almost every respect.
-
From a UND perspective, I agree with both of you. At the same time, it could also be kinda fun if it was viewed in the same respect as a spring game in college football. Let the guys who want to sign pro leave. There are a lot of guys that put in a ton of work during the season that don't see the ice much. Let those guys and the younger kids get some more game reps than usual and use it to build for the following season. Let the third string goalie play a period, etc. Fans would also get to see the team once or twice more. Biggest draw back imo is that the first round would be the same weekend as regional but perhaps it could help UND fans cope, lol. Could also help to build fan support at smaller or newer programs (see sdsu basketball and their nit run). Not really much to dislike if ya accept it for what it is imo. I'd prob watch regional games instead, personally.

Per Schloss, The Gazelle Group, which runs the College Basketball Invitational, is gauging interest for a secondary college hockey postseason event. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/an-nit-for-college-hockey-a-group-is-exploring-the-idea Would likely be an additional revenue driver for the REA/UND, and it would give the younger guys additional ice time and game experience, which would help with the following year. The hockey team has higher goals, however, and I could see how they wouldn't be interested. Pretty sure some p5 schools don't participate in the basketball NIT, for example, because they feel like they are above it in a way. Could see how the coaches would feel the same way. Thoughts? Would/should UND participate?

Here's another good one from Zombo at the beginning of the season. Tells the story of the water bottle incident at Wisconsin at 53:25. Pretty fun listen. https://ithswpodcasts.podbean.com/e/analytics and-eyeballs- se 1 ep-32- september-26-2022/ Another Zombo interview from a couple days ago about this weekend's series. https://ithswpodcasts.podbean.com/e/college-hockey-west-weekly- se-2-ep-27- january-3-2023/

Gotcha. Kinda funny though..
-
I kinda wonder if P5 guys will start accepting more low/mid major offers to gain playing time and experience prior to transferring to a P5 school. Think juniors/USHL for hockey. Even NHL draft picks play juniors while knowing they will probably leave college early, rather playing 4 yrs of college hockey. Would a guy like Klabo develop faster if he played at UND as a freshman vs riding the bench at a P5? Not saying whether or not this is or should his or UND's approach - it just crossed my mind. A p5 could also suggest that to a kid... telling them to play somewhere they will see the floor and then transfer with 1yr experience.

This post is kind of ironic. Do you you mind specifying who "you" is?
