  1. and once more, screw you Kelley for taking her off the screen.
  2. I am very excited to see him next year, he really came along in the 2nd half of the conference season and hopefully a big summer can lead to a huge jump in his progression.
  3. Tennis is a core sport in the Big Sky, so cutting that could have hurt UND by not being able to compete for conference championships (deemed ineligible in all sports). While softball and soccer are not core sports, the Summit could have "recommended" at the conference meeting in early March that they keep them when they move in 2018 or face a $300,000 penalty. Also with soccer, they just hired a new coach recently. Truthfully: I don't think UND had any other choice. The two articles below is where I got my info. http:/http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/4221443-und-may-face-summit-league-penalty-fees-if-cutting-sports www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4241417-und-athletics-teams-brace-budget-cut-announcement
  4. Swim and Dive is a Summit sport, however only 5 Summit teams on the Men's side and 6 Summit teams on the women's side have Swim and Dive. It is the smallest participating sport in the conference. So I am wondering if during last month's meetings and the whole penalty article floating around during that time, did the two parties come to an understanding on what UND could cut and avoid anymore fees? *They do have an affilidate for both in EIU, but I'm only counting the Summit teams
  5. How much did the Big Sky/Summit transition play into cutting swim and dive? Was it possible this was the only sport (outside of WH) that UND could cut and not face a penalty from either conference? The best way to move past this: Win Put up another year like this one and things will settle down. Struggle and this will linger The worst thing UND can do right now is reneg. This isn't just about Athletics when I say that, remember what cuts haven't been decided yet....
  6. I told a gopher friend about this. He just stared at me for a few moments before shaking his head. Just dumbfounded.
  7. well for one stop the Euro trips and raid section 8/Canada/Metro more. I just don't know where they could have found the money
  8. How common is that where a player leaves a school, goes someplace else, then comes back.
  9. They cannot be any worse than they were last year. I'll say they win 70 and Molly gets canned at the end of the season
  10. Well yes, but if they both have the same information would Schafer cut more than he did? We will never know.
  11. Unless Schafer never got the same information Kennedy did. Did they both see the same numbers or different?
  12. Wonder what the U of M women's team would think of that comparison
  13. No, you can't be serious. Someone needs to nominate this for PST on KFAN
  14. Hey Faculty, how do you feel about this? I rescind my comment about not saying anything. They need to come out on this NOW
  15. It was odd when he wasn't let go the Monday after the season ended. When the Title IX consultant came into the picture that's when the alarm bells should have sounded.
  16. I don't think it was that high but it was better than volleyball and was about the level of women's basketball at their peak with the Lammys. After they left it steadily declined.
  17. The argument that gets me is the: why don't they cut admin positions instead? Um... did you miss the notice that they cut 20% from Twamley?
  18. Jets want him badly so I am not surprised here.
  19. Why do we get blamed, I'm offended! Is that how that works?
  20. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4242553-und-cuts-womens-hockey-mens-and-womens-swimming According to this, it pushes it to nearly 3 million in savings
  21. Mark Kennedy made a tough decision. While I hate to see programs go, I understand why it had to happen. $2.5 million is no chump change. Should this have been done sooner, absolutely. Its done now. The sun will rise tomorrow and we will move on. And there better not be a peep out of the faculty this time. They had their chance
