  1. Last year they played Mankato at home to end the year and 3 years ago they play Tech to finish the year. Nevertheless, an exciting schedule and can finally get to see CC play at the Ralph so I check off seeing all the WCHA teams.
  2. With that NDSU schedule, I think I'll remove the UNC tourney off the schedule. More importantly however..... North Dakota Invitational: UW Green Bay, USD, SFA Fri Aug 31: South Dakota Sat Sept 1: Green Bay Sat Sept 1: SFA Thurs Sept 13 Montana State Sat Sept 15 Montana Thurs Sept 20 @ Weber State Sat Sept 22 @ Idaho State Sat Sept 29 Sacramento State Thurs Oct 4 @ Eastern Washington Tues Oct 9 @ NDSU Thurs Oct 11 SUU Sat Oct 13 Northern Arizona Fri Oct 19 @ Montana Sat Oct 20 @ Montana State Thurs Oct 25 Idaho State Sat Oct 27 Weber State Thurs Nov 1 @ Sacramento State Sat Nov 10 Eastern Washington Thurs Nov 15 @ Northern Arizona Sat Nov 18 @ SUU Schedule keeps looking better and better! Still missing UNC and Portland State off the conference schedule
  3. We should also get a game with another mid-major being involved in Bracketbusters correct?
  4. USD put out their schedule a little while ago and they have the same dates down for the UND invite. I am leaning towards to the mix up between UND and NDSU. CSU, who is also in the tourney in UNC, will have their schedule out this week. Perhaps this will clear things up a little. North Dakota Invitational: UW Green Bay, USD, SFA Fri Aug 31: South Dakota Sat Sept 1: Green Bay Sat Sept 1: SFA ? 8. As I current student, I understand some of the stuggles that some of the my fellow classmates have when it comes to graduating in 4. Some are their own doing, others are because they chose to go 4.5 to 5 years (Some of my friends who are in engineering do a co-op during the summer and fall). I remember my first weekend here in August 2009, I was in a small room in Odegard Hall with all of my professors and the 25 other kids in my field of study. They all explained to us about how advising was required in order for us to register for classes and we needed to meet with our advisors at least once a semester and to come ready when meeting with said advisor with what classes you wanted to take. That was one of the thing that I really liked. Another thing I think benefits some people is that they come in with college credits from taking advanced high school classes or they do PSEO. So some people come in with like 3-5 credits or more and it really does help them in their pursuit of graduating in 4. ACT scores are also important because for some people it was the diference between starting in a pre-calc and a calc class. This time next year, I should have my BA in my major with a minor and hopefully moving on to grad school here. And hey... there is nothing wrong with going to school for 7 years
  9. While our official schedule hasn't been announced yet, other big sky schools have put out their official schedule. Based on what I have snooped around so far, here is what ours will look like so far Thurs Sept 13 Montana State Sat Sept 15 Montana Sat Sept 22 @ Idaho State Sat Sept 29 Sacramento State Thurs Oct 11 SUU Sat Oct 13 Northern Arizona Fri Oct 19 @ Montana Sat Oct 20 @ Montana State Thurs Oct 25 Idaho State Thurs Nov 1 @ Sacramento State Thurs Nov 15 @ Northern Arizona Sat Nov 18 @ SUU Missing: Northern Colorado, Weber State, Portland State, Eastern Washington Haven't taken the time to look around the other schools for non-conference games, should be very exciting for the girls, I expect them to do very well in year 1. Anyone else that knows of games within the conference or any non-conference please feel fair to share.
  10. Well, I was always told think big and be bold, so That being said, I understand that some of the things that are said. Its hard to do for an entire year, its hard to get people to do it, the student will come if they win. I am also a realist that some of these things won't be done, I understand. However, things need to change... there should be no more of this asking where the you know what are the students. There are 14,000 students on this campus that can fill 2,000 student seats (I think 2000 are available?). And for the most part, tickets are free!!! FREE!!! I'll do my part to fill 1 every game this year and get a few people as well. I want to be able to see new traditions started with football and bring new cheers, or hey even bring some old ones back. I am excited for this year, I have not been this excited for a football season in a long while.
  11. I think one of the things we really new are some new traditions. We need something for the 4th Quarter. We need something unique and fun that us students can look forward to each and every week. We also need to start new cheers and start to develop this tradition. Here is a sample of what I wish we could do for the football season. Aug 30th: SDSoM (Green Out) Sept 8th: Portland St. (Color By Section.. Each section is either green, white or black) Sept 29th: Cal Poly (White Out) Oct 13th: N. Arizona (Green Out) Oct 20th: Montana (Black Out) Nov 2nd: S. Utah (White Out) We also need to tweak the enterence video a little, get rid of the nickelback please and lets throw some Metallica or Sandstorm or something here. How about we get some towels for us to wave around, so we have that along with banging the seats of the Alerus. Move the games to halftime and make them football oriented. How about the Alerus give us some clips of old UND football games to get us ready for the game (A This day in UND football history), also how about making the place more like the home of UND football. I also wished that some of the football team acutally comes to the Union on Wednesday's to help promote the team and help convince people to come out and watch them play on Saturdays. I also wish they held pep rallies for the team out at Memorial, I think that would be kinda cool for the students. Its like a fresh start for us. Enough ranting from me... back to "finals"
  12. Dates of those two games by chance? Hopefully this time they have SDSU not on semester break so I can actually check them out.
  13. I was looking at the early hockey schedule on one of the blogs and it looks like there should no conflict on the Oct 13th vs Northern Arizona (Is that homecoming?). Its looks like just an exhibition game on the 12th. The only football/hockey weekend would be when Southern Utah comes up the same weekend we play BU (and if the Athletic Promotions department was smart for the student standpoint, they give out priority numbers to us to encourage us to go to the go to the game and keep our spot in line at the REA). There should be no excuse this year for my fellow students to attend football games. We will be a decent football team in a good conference actually competing for a conference championship and playoffs. The later starts should give people plenty of time to get over whatever they did the night before, go to the game, and still have more than enough time for their activities on saturday night. As for the black-out idea for Montana? I don't like it... I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! I was already planning on e-mailing athletics a few ideas for next year for some of the sports (football included), want me to pass along this idea? Is it August yet?
  14. please.... I pray they do not go to 128 teams EVER in my lifetime, (and that's a long time still). That would just water down the tournament so much. . Money talks, but hey if that ever happened Northwestern would finally get in! (oh wait... they would be the first team out). I personally like the play in games, but I wish they would make the play in games for the teams that were the last 8 at large teams. Not the half and half we see right now. Luckily the Sioux came back and beat the Gophers, or else I would really be depressed after my dukies laid an egg last night.
  15. Montana is losing Steward, Selvig, Wood, and Stockton. However, Montana's two leading scorers in Jamar and Cherry will be back
  16. I love how Huff has responded in these last two games since his dustup, not only Offensively but Defensively as well. I hope he can really work his tail off in the offseason on fine tuning his game, especially on the free throw line. Hopefully the men can win the title tomorrow and do some damage in the CIT.
  17. Lets get at it tonight and tip some purple cow! And of course... THANK YOU SENIORS!!!!
  18. Wow... That was a crazy end to the game. Im glad we were able to pull that one out and beat a very good Utah Valley team. Im glad it was Mitchell hitting that shot, the senior who just absolutely struggled shooting the ball, manages to put one in to sent the home crowd into a frenzy. Brekke was pretty steady, getting his 11 points, only got one rebound however. Allard and Antwi both provided a spark for the team today. Allard helped a lot getting garbage points and offensive boards and Antwi helped by hitting a couple big shots when we needed them. Anderson didn't have his best out there today, but got a couple of nice steals and was somewhat held down by those fouls. Now... for Mr. Huff, I loved how he started the game. He took charge right away, I seriously thought he was going to go off for 25-30 points, I kid you not. He only finished with 14 points and got most of those in the first half, but when the shots stopped falling, he crashed the boards offensively and defensively and got after it on D, getting 5 steals. I do feel bad that the dunk he had didn't go through the hoop... that was frustrating I hope this team can make another run at a Great West title and start building momentum for next year in the Big Sky. Hopefully we can win it and go back to the CIT.
  19. Anybody care to share what went down to start this shouting match?
  20. and Brett Favre retirement(s) times a trillion I think that best describes how I have felt about this whole thing these past few years I have been on campus. Everytime I think the name is about to ride off into the sunset, it just wants to come back in some form or the other. From the forum that President Kelly had on that faithful April day in 2010 annoucing the first retirement, watching the candlelight protest marching down University, the State Law bringing it back, the rejection of said law from the NCAA, the repeal, the second retirement, the petitions, and now this.... Its been a lot to digest and I am getting burnt out on the issue. Don't get me wrong, I think its dumb that we have to go through this process of changing the name. I was upset back in 2010, but finding a way to get into the Big Sky helped heal the wound a lot. When the name retired the second time, I didn't think anything of it other than, "hopefully, this is finally over". But I was wrong... However, Did it stop me from yelling "Let's Go Sioux" at the Gopher and Badger Hockey games in the student section, nope. Is it going to. Nope. Am I going to stop wearing my Sioux gear, Nope. Did I stop yelling "Go Sioux" at the basketball game against NDSU, nope. What was I wearing when I rushed the court, Fighting Sioux Basketball shirt, shorts, hat, etc. What am I going to do at the next sporting event... you guessed it, keep doing what I have been doing since my first football game as a freshman not to long ago, be cheering for MY team, no matter what we are called. There is nothing else I can do other than strap on my seatbelt, and watch and see where this runaway train heads next. I feel a big time novel can be written about this. It wasn't very long ago that I was pumped about our future next year, just the thought of playing in a REAL D-1 conference and having our first shot at the NCAA's in our sports other than hockey brought me great joy, but now I am starting to wonder if there is going to be one. Its bad enough I saw the WCHA implode, losing the Gopher and Badger rivarly, losing USD, but losing the Big Sky would be the worst
  21. Thank god that the game is finally tomorrow, can't wait! Im hoping for a triple overtime thiller with a buzzer beater... Seriously thought, I hope for a great showing from both teams and a nail biter... and to lose my voice in the process My hope is that these two are able to work out another game for next year or another home and home series. (Wishful thinking?)
  22. Stopped by the student ticket office today, found out that they have been since this morning asking students to "green out" for the game. It also sounds like tickets have been going very fast on the student end... Its off to a promising start.
  23. Hey everyone, been following the board for a few years since I came to UND and finally have the guts to start posting All joking aside, as a student I am very excited for this game. I unforuntately haven't been to as many UND events outside of hockey as I would have liked this year (between 2 campus jobs and schoolwork its kinda hard). I got my ticket yesterday. I went down to the Fargodome last year and despite the loss, the first taste of the rivarly was amazing. I was also lucky to see the volleyball game this year and was very into it (which isn't too hard for me to get into). Despite the struggles, I think they have a chance, it is a rivarly game where records are thrown out the window and anything can happen. I hopefully can catch a rerun of a bison game so I can see what they bring to the table. Since I'll be at the hockey games this weekend I won't be able to catch them live on MidCo. Also, I hope the student show up and are ready to make some noise, I mean there are nearly 15,000 students on campus... Not everyone can hate basketball... right??? . I am trying to organize a student-led green out and trying to reach the proper channels, I know there are quite a few students who actually like basketball on these boards and Im wondering if they can't help me out.
