Yes, you are right that Hawks gear is worn at non-hockey sporting events. Big deal. You rarely see it around town. This used to feel like a Sioux Town. It is not a Hawks town or a Sioux Town anymore.
-
100% the logo. There was pride in the Sioux Logo. I'm still a big fan of the school and own a few items with the Hawks logo on it. IBH the merchandise sucks now.

Top 5 are easy. The order to tougher. 3 National Championships, 1997 Regional Championship and 2014 Big Sky Championship. I would put in this order 1. 1997 Regional championship. Only because this game shifted the power on D2 Women's B-Ball to UND. It was also basically the national championship. 2. 1997 National Championship. 1st one is always the best. 3. 1999 National Championship. 3 peat is tough 4. 1998 National Championship. National championship>Conference Championships 5 2014 Big Sky Championship.

I was told by someone that works at Target that Target is expanding into the old Gordmans space.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

I still wonder and we will probably never know, but what was communicated to Spicer as far of when he was to come in. If he was under the impression that he was coming in this coming year than I don't blame him for wanted to move on. Sometimes you have your heart set on something and feel like you are ready for college. I would agree he should be waiting an other year before college, but i just hope Berry is not telling recruits what they want to hear to string them a long. -
Since the New Ralph was build UND has 1 National Championship, Denver 4 and UMD 3. We can brag about top 10 finishes and conference championships. 1 NC in the 20+ years they have played in the New Ralph is pretty sad. Yes 1 and done tournaments make it harder for the best team to always win, but there should be times when UND is winning in the NCAA tourney when they are not the better team. Everyone of Berry's NCAA loses were bad loses and we make excuses. Lost to BU in OT in 2017 in front of home crowd and it is because the ref's screwed us over on the Video review. Lost to UMD and it is because UMD didn't play the day before, never mind the fact it took until a pulled goalie situation for UND to score 2 goals and UND caught a break when UMD was called for offsides on first game winning goal. This year we lose to ND and caught a break when they score SH goals right after Period ends. Berry celebrates like we won championship, when he should be embarrassed his team let that happen. We use the fact we have so may new players as excuse. Even though Denver is just as young as UND and wins National Championship. Oh in 2020 we didn't win because covid cut the season short. It has become apparent that Covid avoided the embarrassment of losing in the Regional.

I wouldn’t hate Duluth so much if I thought they deserved it. Average regular season each year and turn it on in post season. There has never been a time I would say they were the best team in country

Maybe to some. I just can't get on board with that. If there is concern about him getting hurt then just don't ever play him. They won 1/2 of a penne rose and lost all momentum.

UND vs. Notre Dame - Albany Regional - NCAA regional semis

Berry is way too easy on the team, miss Hak and the stare. Listening to the Has Been's pod cast they talk about the big differences between the 2. Berry seems to be too much of nice guy. -

I can see 1st half struggles, but come playoff time they have been together long enough. Plenty of time to gel. -
This is 1 reason why i was not in favor of Berry giving an extension in the middle of the year. After the extension. 1. Have up 3rd period lead to Omaha to basically tie them. OT 3x3 win gave them 1/2 a Penne Rose cup and he was satisfied. 2. Next night sit the goaltender that was playing great the last month and get beat by 3 goals allowing Denver to share the cup and get the number #1. Also hurt pairwise ranking. 3. Next 2 games Sanderson is back and struggle to beat CC in two 2-1 games. Sanderson played great, but still struggled to beat the 7th best team in the league. 4. Lose to W. Michigan in front of Pro UND crowd. 5. Lost to Notre Dame and season done. Basically finished 2-3-1 after the contract extension with the 2 wins vs CC, the 2nd worst team in the NCHC. The loses vs 3 worst in NCHC, 3rd place team in NCHC and 3 best in Big Ten. All teams they should have beat. This team quit.

I don't get this crap about this team over performed. Sure they had a lot of turnover, but they brought in plenty of transfers, so its not like the were all freshmen. They were a 1st place team to start the new year so it not like they just came on in the 2nd half. They had 2 bad weekends in January, and they sh!t the bed in the playoffs. This program should never be in a position the be rebuilding, they should reload every year. Having to rebuild is a black mark on Berry. I would like to think they would have made a run in 2020, but after the last 2 years i'm more and more convinced they would have been 1 and done or maybe won a game. -
I was surprised by the number of W. Michigan Underclassmen. I went and counted there roster and they have 31 players on the roster, so they have a bunch of upperclassmen also. That is a lot of healthy scratches.

I think that is the good thing about ESPN3 is they can show the games right away as they can show as many games at one time on ESPN3 since it is streaming.
-
In fairness i'm not sure UND wins the NC in 1997 or 2000 if it was best 2 out of 3. My guess is the number of banners would be similar.
-
Very Weird Topic. For me it is 2000. 1997 Lucked out with Michigan losing but that Sophomore class was loaded, and a very good team. Interesting that IMO the 1998 and 1999 teams were the best in the country, but didn't win the NC and the teams before and after them did. 2 NC in four year is what the Program deserved.
-
Agree with 3 out of the 4. Don't think the 2000-01 belongs in there. I would put the 2019-20 in the top 4 along with the other 3 your have. #5 would be the 1997-98 team. I would guess the 1979 team would be up there but i was 4 at the time so don't remember.
-
Some people are so clueless. The UMD group behind me at the championship game was talking about how W. Michigan had to win the tourney to get into the NCAA Tournament. I'm sure they are surprised to see Western as the highest seed out from the NCHC.

2021-22 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

2011-12 also didn’t have the transfer portal to help reload. Really like this team, but that team in 2012 is probably my favorite for what they accomplished with what they had. -
or Hermantown should not be in the A Tournament.
-
Looks like there are 7 schools, but like you said almost all the the kids come from 2 schools. I get that they will would probably never compete at the AA level, but there are tons of programs in the same boat. I'm not sure why they are the exception.
-
Fair enough.
-
Transfer Portal sucks. Seems to force coaches to kiss the players A$$. Don't know what is going on behind closed doors. Wish there was some compensation the team getting the player had to give. Sucks when a coaching staff finds the diamonds in the rough, coaches them up and they leave. Loyalty seems to be gone.

And how do you hold a kid to that?
