  1. There's been speculation that the WCHA could possibly end up with the X the years that the B1G doesn't have it. I personally don't see it, but the speculation is out there so somebody must know that it's a possibility.
  2. Conferences could care less how far a certain school has to go. Penn State's closest conference tournament will be in Detroit, which is a 7-8 hour drive. They want the arena that will sell the most tickets. The ONLY 4 options the NCHC will be considering, IMO, are REA, Omaha, and the Target Center with a possible visit to the X every other year. Just my 2 cents.
  3. My bad! I went back and still didn't see it. Making an eye appointment as I type
  4. Haven't seen it on here yet, but today the B1G announced that their conference tournament would take place at the X in 2014 and 2016, and at JLA in 2015 and 2017. There's been speculation of the WCHA getting the X in the years the B1G isn't there and the Target Center was placing a bid for the NCHC.
  5. Just a quick question. Please don't get all defensive and turn this into a pissing thread like before. Do the people that think fighting needs to be allowed in college hockey in order to "make the game safer (i.e- checking from behind)" and "stop people from chirping" still believe that after seeing these NHL playoffs? This has been some of the dirtiest hockey I've seen in my entire life. I'm just curious
  6. Very good posts here and I agree with all of it.
  7. I disagree. I think a lot of kids from northern MN would leave their high schools to do this because they don't get the publicity they need at smaller schools most of the time unless they do make the state tournament or have an absolutely astonishing year
  8. Both of them had well written articles IMO. I've always been more of a community based guy myself. UND knows this is a huge benefit to their program and that's probably why this idea was brought up. Can't fault them on that.
  9. Lol, can't argue with that. Country music, grilling, sports and beer is pretty much my life haha. Most of my pay goes to supporting the above haha
  10. I'm in college. I can barely afford my alcohol and food
  11. The NCAA does a very thorough investigation. They would investigate said "fan" that did the tweet and find out that they weren't really a UND fan.
  12. The way I look at it is that it's college hockey. The NCAA couldn't give 2 s**ts about fans tweeting people that may be recruits to their favorite team just because it is hockey. I'd honestly like to know if an NCAA hockey team has ever been in trouble for recruiting violations. I know that violations undoubtably happen at just about every school whether you like to admit it or not, but I just don't think the NCAA cares about hockey. I saw a thing last summer that said the NCAA literally doesn't have enough compliance officers to deal with football (I think it said they have like 15 total), let alone adding in basketball and all the other sports. Like I said, my opinion is that they could care less about hockey. Edit: I saw UNH got hit with 2 years probation for recruiting violations in 09, but that's only because the school reported the findings themself
  13. Really hurts DU to lose Bennett. As for preseason #1 next year. I'm sure BC will get it due to them winning the title. Personally I think UND will be ranked higher in the preseason national rankings. Minnesota might be ranked higher in the WCHA rankings. They have a lot to prove, though. Other than the first 10 games of the year they weren't very consistent night in and night out.
  14. I feel violated just hearing that name
  15. I REALLY wish they would sign Parise but I've heard that it's HIGHLY unlikely that it will happen.
  16. I wouldn't doubt it. My friend teaches him and he's told me multiple times that Dell is far and away the best "student" he's ever had out of UND hockey players. Still kind of puzzling he hasn't signed yet, though.
  17. Granlund is the only one that I think could turn into a star player as well. He's sick
  18. I know their fans are hockey crazy, but I could never find it in myself to play there if I had the chance. Everything is in French, from what I hear people in Quebec usually aren't the friendliest, and the fans are almost psycho hockey crazy. I'm surprised they haven't murdered a player for making a mistake in the playoffs yet. Granted they burn their city every year they lose in the playoffs as a replacement to that.
  19. Pretty much what I expected him to do, especially when the Habs organization is in such shambles right now. I'd suspect he wants to sign with another team, and get more money in the process. Does anyone see him signing with the Jets or Wild just to stay closer to home?
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard somewhere that Maris was getting his degree or something at UND this spring and moving back to Colorado instead of returning next season.
  21. Ehh, maybe UND. No way the Duluth team from last year only loses 2-3 conference games this year. To lose only 2-3 conference games is unheard of, no matter how good your team is.
  22. With over the top talent I think the WCHA was down this year. But it was still a good conference. Minnesota, UMD, DU and even UND with their rash of injuries were all strong teams. Those 4 could compete with anyone in the country towards the end of the year, except BC. They were head and shoulders above the competition this season. Somebody pointed out that they lost 10 games, which they did. But you have to remember that at one point BC was 14-10-1 this season. They are now 32-10-1. They obviously had some struggles at the beginning of the year, but once they got going they were unstoppable. As for next season, if Minnesota can get some goaltending I'd expect them, UND and DU to be the top 3 challengers for the Macnaughton. UMD is losing far to much talent IMO, for them to compete for the Macnaughton.
  23. This is true, including UND. There was a game at the Ralph towards the end of the year as well where they said it was a sellout and the upperdeck was only half full at the most, partly because most of the students were gone.
