  1. More news on college hockey switching to visors. People seem very optimistic. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2012/05/04_full_shields_closer_than_ever.php
  2. Why not? He did clarify that it's a rumor and he has the right to put his opinion on the internet.
  3. Woops, I meant visors instead of face shields, but you got the point!
  4. I may have missed it, but I didn't see it on here. At the ACHA meetings last week coaches were heavily in favor of switching to face shields. If the the NCAA agrees it could take place this upcoming season. http://themackreport.com/ncaa-coaches-heavily-favor-changes-from-full-cages-to-shields/
  5. Exactly. In reality I believe college will develop you more than MJ's will, but a lot of "super star" recruits go the MJ route in order to throw up huge numbers against lesser competition. Charlie Coyle this year is a prime example of how much better the competition is in college than MJ. He was a solid college player, but he's lighting up major juniors.
  6. Because he'll look much better playing against 16 year olds than 25 year olds, therefore making sure that his draft status stays high
  7. I don't think the Canadiens could talk to him about signing since they don't have a GM and all those other shenanigans going on with them.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised to see Martin or Goligoski on the Olympic team, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised to see them left off either.
  9. I haven't, but the one plus is that it's a football field so the seating should be much better than a baseball field. I absolutely HATE the seating at baseball fields for a hockey game since the field isn't the right shape for a hockey rink
  10. I actually didn't see the comment, but if it's from The Mole it is without a doubt a smart a## comment
  11. Hadn't seen it posted in here yet, but tonight it was officially announced that Minnesota will play Wisconsin at Soldier Field in Chicago on February 17th. In addition, Notre Dame and Miami (OH) will also play at Soldier Field that day.
  12. I'd have to assume he was just making a smart a## comment, because I think every college hockey fan knows that he is pro ready. Not that another year of college will hurt. A lot of the people on GPL will make smart a## comments knowing that UND fans will read them
  13. I thought the leverage deal was a decent point until siouxforce reminded that he needs to withdraw from school to become a free agent, in which case we'd know sooner rather than later if he was planning on signing a contract. As I said on GPL, I expect him to be back after announcing it. He won't abandon his team.
  14. Careful, Brianvf doesn't approve of what you're doing!
  15. Sucks for Minnesota and other teams that Kristo is back, but I have to admit I love seeing kids stay longer, no matter what school they're from. Maybe we'll get a surprise and both Schultz and Bjugstad will stay. Could be some deep, talented teams in the WCHA next year.
  16. So we're down to Don Adam...how do we get rid of him?
  17. Here's to hoping the Shepherds and Adam stay in the WCHA! *holds beer up*
  18. The fat BTN paycheck? Minnesota's AD has said Minnesota will probably less money in the B1G conference than they did in the WCHA. Here's part of an e-mail he sent me on March 22nd, 2011 when I was sharing my opinion against going to the B1G to him: "Also, please know I do not think the “U” will make money with the change, contrary to popular belief. I'm quite confident that it will probably cost us some. Fact is we are a member of the Big Ten Conference and now six institutions sponsor Men’s Hockey. That qualifies to become a Big Ten sport and Hockey will become one in 2013-2014. We will continue to play many of our traditional rivals and In-State colleagues. Change is never easy but I am confident all will work out."
  19. I believe 2 are in Mariucci and one is at another school, so the other schools will have Minnesota visit their arena once every 4 years, while the tournament is in the X
  20. Minnesota will play series against 3 of them every year and play the odd one out in the first round of the Minnesota tournament to ensure they face every team. So the Minnesota teams will take up 8 games for them.
  21. People around here REALLY underestimate what the recession did to the state of Michigan. I go there every summer and it's BAD compared to Grand Forks or Minnesota. I have to imagine that's part of the problem. I will admit that the one thing the B1G has going for it when it comes to the conference tournament is that fans from all 6 schools can get tickets and travel plans, at this point, years in advance because they know that their team will be in the tournament every year. You would think that will be a little help, compared to the WCHA now or the future NCHC where fans don't know if their team is going to be in the tournament until 4 or 5 days before the tournament starts. That's the one plus the B1G has going for it IMO. Needless to say, I don't think the B1G will see very many sell outs at the X. Neither would the NCHC, though. I personally expect the B1G and NCHC to rotate at the X, with both having somewhat similar attendance numbers
